It’s not sustainable is it? If the Chinese start driving around in cars with one person in them then the oil will soon run out. There should be clean, efficient free public transport in all urban areas. And cars made to wait for them.

Signed. Don’t really wish to be a party pooper, but I believe that nothing has ever changed as a result of one of these petitions. I did suggest starting one saying ‘Raise MPs salaries by 20% as they do such amazing work’, just to see if we could be the first people to actually change anything via a petition.
You're right. I've signed loads of them. HM Gov sends a waffling email to say we've debated the matter in Parliament and basically thrown it out. Thank you very much for taking part in our democracy and goodbye. it's on a par with public "consultations" about unwelcome development projects like waste incinerators or HS2. The matter has already been decided and rubber stamped by government and all objections will be overruled. But the public are invited to have a little moan to prove the government is "listening" and when they've finished they're ignored and the project ploughs on as before.
In France they would riot and bring the Country to a stand still, in the UK people sign a pointless petition so those in charge can pretend your view matters.
