V4 Pp Bars On A V4s?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Eugen, Mar 15, 2022.

  1. The PP bars feel very similar to the ones on the DVT I had previously… can’t be 100% but feel similar…

  2. ok thanks, ill get some accurate measurements before ordering or cutting mine down lol

  3. I was wondering if you could just lop an inch off each end ...

  4. The PP bars are both narrower and a slightly lower rise. It was the combination that’s worked for me, not just the fact they’re a bit narrower.

  5. I’m trying to remove the R/H switchgear, the one with the heated grip button. The Allen bolt doesn’t want to shift, but someone mentioned it didn’t need to come out.

    Anyone done this?

  6. This is the tricky bit of removing the switchgear is the black plastic retaining clips… need to push them through from one side to the other (…carefully!) if you break them replacements are only a couple of quid or so from Ducati dealership. Is same principle on the MV4S as the Diavel in this video.

  7. Got them off. The benefit of walking away and sleeping on it!

  8. I changed my bars on my DVT for some narrower bars, 90mm overall, best mod ever.
    Can't remember the make.
A bit of messing around to fit but well worth it

  9. I’m now wondering how to get the rubber ‘dampers’ out of the risers.

They look pressed in but a quick hammer hasn’t shifted them.

  10. Hi,
I'm going to attempt to swap my bars tomorrow for the newly arrived PP ones. Are there any pointers that you can offer after fitting yours? I've not looked closely yet but any help with :

Removing the grips / throttle twist grip
How did you get the black plastic retaining clips off?

    Many many thanks,

    pj

  11. Ah, I've just seen your video further up the thread.

  12. Hi,

Did you end up just hitting them a bit harder? Or did you use a lever?

    Thanks,

    pj

  13. I’ve ended up ignoring them for a while!

Tried a bit of M10 threaded rod, some washer s and a nut either side. Try to wind them out.

    Nothing!

I’m going to repeat the process tomorrow with the addition of heat. Cue the blow torch!

  14. I’m a bit confused now. I’ve just unpacked my new bars and can’t see the need to remove any rubber bung..

Apologies, but I’m trying to get as much information together as possible as I use the bike every day and need to have it back on the road by Monday.

  15. The rubber bung is in the risers. Nothing to do with the bars. I’m getting mine powder coated and the feckin things are more stubborn than a very stubborn thing.

  16. Ah, I see. Phew… (well for me anyway)

  17. Just a heads up for anyone swapping out their bars.

The machine screws that hold the throttle twist grip together have security torx heads.
The two screw holes in my new PP bars for the LHS heated grip were drilled but not tapped. Luckily I have a metric tap set at home.
The Allen key tip in a previous post, for removing the switch gear, worked perfectly.
The bars are appreciably narrower and certainly sit a chunk lower and further towards the rider. I’ll report back on how I get on with them after a few commutes next week.

  18. Hi.
I am thinking about doing the swap to PP bars.
Any feedback from long time users, still happy?

  19. I honestly think it's the best mod ever, much better in town, don't catch so much wind at high speeds, much more comfortable.
It's a bit like getting the screen right on the Multistrada, all about your size and height, not one size fits all.
Mine are 90mm narrower and slightly lower.
I really don't know why the originals are so wide.
