Ran PR3s through last winter on the MTS1200 - great all-round tyre: don't give quite (and I mean, "quite" - very close) the feel of Diablo Corsas but, given temperatures in the Highlands for most of the year, my Diablo-shod bikes usually don't get up to temperature whereas the PR3s felt planted after just a mile or two. Did a streaming wet track day on them at Knockhill - I felt that I was being relaxed and cautious on them but the plod instructor on his K1300S who'd entirely failed to catch me couldn't believe what was going on… Up to about 5k now and there does feel to be a little squaring at the rear, but compared with 1.2k out of my last rear Diablo, I'll take that…
I have to say I have had 4's on my MTS now for about 3.5 - 4k Miles now, (Really wished I had noted the mileage now) and at first very impressed, They are good in both wet and dry for sure, but now they have squared off a little already and worn far quicker than I expected, to the point I am thinking of changing them all ready with no idea what to put on. I would leave them for another 1k, doubt that is all that is left on front and back, but riding on our roads with tramlines it is annoying that the bike moves around when you are not expecting it, even in straight lines, Fine on smooth surfaces, Corning again is fine on smooth surfaces, not so on our crap roads (in the South). My 3s on my K1300R lasted a lot longer 7k Plus when I sold it with thread to spare.
Well I did change the rear at about 5400 or so miles and it was just on the limit and while squaring a bit it wasnt really noticable when riding. The front is ripped and worn on the edges but the middle 3/4, the winter use bit, has loads of life! Reading others posts, they seem really suspectable to pressure so maybe mess a lityle with pressure if you dont get on with them. But >5k from a rear tyre? Unheard of for me, ever.
I changed from the Pirelli Angels on my 696 and got 4200 from the rear and the front was close so changed both for 4's and love the 600 miles I have done on them so far and great in the wet. Agree with checking the pressures as I find running them 3psi higher front and rear feels best for me.
I've used PR3s for years and will be putting 4s on when these wear out. For anyone who's not tried these or think they need the softest stickiest tyres for road use you don't know what you're missing. Super grip from stone cold, so much grip in the wet you really will surprise yourself how hard you can drive and brake, and they're amazing in the dry too and don't wear out. Wheelies and stoppies in standing water anyone? You can with the 3s and the 4s must be better.
Yeah I can easy imagine you getting 11k out of 3's I was up to 7k on my K1300R with plenty left too on the rear
