1200 Press Launch Of 2015 Multistrada 1200 Dvt

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by andydmcn, Feb 11, 2015.

  1. Why did they not put a quick shifter on it? And blipper?
It's a bike the play with others across so many models, and this seems an oversight

  2. new beak looks nice wonder if it can fit on older models?

  3. but the new exhaust look plastic fantastic yuk

  4. DVT...I think marketing should have come up with a better one.
As any Ford STI* drivers know those initials will haunt them.

    * Sexual transmitted infection, used to be called the clap or vd when I was younger.
Deep vein thrombosis... I hope not.

  5. I doubt it, unless you are changing the entire bodywork - the beak is formed from the tank now, looks like a single piece from what I can work out.
Tanks completely different shape, seat, side panels, headlights, cowling, and the small matter of the frame that you are going to bolt it all too :D
It really is more than just a facelift from what I can see in the bodywork.

I am actually quite taken with it, will come back to it in two years when my PCP deal is up and all the guinea pigs have played with them

  6. If the panniers from 2013 bikes do not fit, then I wont be buying one. Simple enough. Cant see any reason to buy panniers twice!

  7. It's a shame the colour clocks don't come with the base model as I've not been overly smitten with Skyhook as a solo rider. Though possibly the tech is not there yet with colour displays to give the same level of clarity in bight light as a mono LCD. Just need to look at tablet and phone manufacturers efforts in thwarting it and they release a new device with the latest iteration of displays about once a month!
Hopefully once the novelty and new release cash grab is over they will start bundling things like panniers etc. in with new purchases as they did with the current model. By the time my current warranty expires and I start looking they will hopefully be into the second incarnation with most issues ironed out.

  8. I like the matching boxes.

  9. They DON'T fit, pretty sure top box and rack is same though

  10. Urmmm, ....... NO. Looks shit but that's just me, so I now have to allow a few hundred pounds to visit a paint shop for pannier paint job. Better be bloody good when the reviews come out and wait 12 months for owners reports to surface.

  11. Nothing a few cans of plasti dip cant cure.

  12. Anyone able to do that Photoshop magic and give the pannier a red makeover in the picture above? It would be interesting to make the comparison.

  14. Personally I think the Silver looks a lot more classy... the line of the bike flows much more.

  15. Nice one Derek :upyeah:. The silver doesn't look shit imho (@Franksie) but I have to admit the red just looks more integrated. I wonder if the panels are removable and, if they are, why Ducati decided not to offer a colour-coded option? Why do Manufacturers mess with the wrong things? I'm not aware of anyone complaining about the colour options of the current panniers so why not focus on fixing the back brake*, wind noise* etc instead?

*I accept they might have on the new model but wouldn't be surprised to find...............

  16. I can see where you're coming from - the red/silver combo always looked the part on the MV Agusta as well.

  17. Just a way for Ducati to save cost and charge more.

Not saying that's good, not saying that's bad, just lets not get caught up in thinking this is a design for our benefit ;)

  19. My 2010 has been pretty reliable, but:
    - finish is dreadful, an area where Ducati has gone backwards big time in the last few years: engine lacquer flaked off and the paint fell off the swing arm within 10k miles, on a bike that's carefully garaged and washed.
    - exhaust valve seizes if you look hard at it
    - headlights. Does this model have any?
    - all fasteners, bolts and screws appear to be made of cheese.

In short, if they're going to sell a premium product at a premium price it needs to deliver in detail and year-round, not just on a track or in a showroom. After thirty years of owning nothing but Ducatis, I'm now eyeing up the alternatives…

  20. The white one in gorgeous in person.
