Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by andydmcn, Feb 11, 2015.

  1. it's growing on me i must admit especially if you're following the winter tour it's now on. Short clips I know but mouthwatering none the less. Carlos Checa's taken delivery of a white one ahead of everyone else. He's forgiven :(

  2. Link please?

    • Thanks Thanks x 1

  6. The UK press group (of which MCN is one) will be riding on March 7 and 8. There may be an earlier group on the international launch.

  7. It will be interesting what deals will materialise when ktm launch their new ktm 1290 smt!

  8. and the New BMW 1000XR. although I would not hold my breath for too bigger discounts.

What I would like to know is if and should the EU exchange rate help make prices come down, certainly some items are dropping like tyres

  9. I'm looking at the BMW S1000XR, KTM 1290 Super Adventure and the DVT Multistrada. I test rode the 2010 and the 2013 Multistrada models and rejected it both times, primarily due to the engine which ran as rough as bag of nails. It also had a really annoying habit of surging on a neutral throttle.

I'd like to know if the engine is smooth, 1) vibration through seat*, 2) no surging and pulls seamlessly through the revs.
and if the skyhook has been improved. Road tests of the 1290 Super Adventure say it's very smooth engine and ride quality

    * I took a demonstrator out from On Yer Bike, after 40 mins riding I'd have cheerfully pushed it in a ditch if they hadn't taken a grand on my credit card.

I'm bit worried about the quality of the finish given the comments in this topic

  10. You have an interesting set of requirements for a 1200cc Twin!

Suspect an inline 4 is the correct direction for you. Maybe add the VFR1200X to your list and scratch the vibe generators.

  11. I would like a in-line 4, having had a ZZR1100, ZX12R and a ZZR1400. But these bikes are too cramped for my ageing frame and I need something more roomy. I currently have a Caponord 1200, which I have spent 2 years trying and far to much ££££ trying to get it run properly so that it doesn't surge. Given up on it. The S1000XR is on my list, but that's not going to be around until the summer. I don't mind a bit of V-twin character, but there is no excuse for a) surging and b) vibration, which is odd on a 90 degree V twin which has perfect primary balance.

  12. Yes, but twice the secondary imbalance although acting longitudinally it shouldn't be obtrusive.
