Private Track Day

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by hyperdildo, Jan 10, 2020.

  1. Well I won the lottery! Unfortunately I’m a little short of the target amount as it was only £2.90!

I’m willing to contribute it to the cause - only £9,997.10 to go!

  2. Little lady spoke to Silverstone last year as her work supply cars to them
7k for Stowe ( short circuit ) marshals and medicals included - but price changed depending on day

  3. 18yrs ago I got invited to a private track day at Snetterton hosted by Crescent Suzuki BSB team. They were a customer of ours we used to supply the graphic display boards in their pits, hospitality and the graphics for the lorries.

At the time Karl Harris and John Reynolds were their riders with Niall Mackenzie as "ambassador"? It was an absolute hoot of a day but a nightmare at the same time, imagine a track day with no organisation, no groups, no briefing. It was carnage :joy: there were people flying off track left right and centre as they imagined if they impressed they might just get signed up.;)

A 996 with a Katie Price paint job (Silver with sparkle lacquer) cartwheeled through the outfield 2nd lap of the first session! After 3 sessions MacKenzie put a halt to proceedings and suggested maybe they should have a fast and slow group :joy:.

I'll never forget going around the last loooong right hand bend on track, knee down going what I thought was really fast, only for Mackenzie to swan past around the outside one handed and looking over his left shoulder like he's on a Sunday drive :joy:

  4. How about a forum Cadwell Park summer track day with camping and a barbecue / drinking to follow? :motorcycleduc: :sun:

What could possibly go wrong? :grinning:

  5. In 1983/4 I hired Goodwood circuit a couple of times, and organised Ducati trackdays there. I was lucky with the weather, and the events turned a small profit (for DOCGB club funds). A club member who was a consultant neurosurgeon kindly spent the day at the track for no charge. I believe these were the first ever Ducati-only trackdays in the UK. It would be much more difficult to do the same today, I'm afraid.

  7. I have a breathalyser for your sort Mr Dildo :noentry:

Seriously though did you get a price from Cadwell or is it just too far into the sticks for you to consider? :joy:

  8. I didn’t get a price form them mate but I don’t mind the travelling, snetterton is a track i like so maybe try and ask them. would be a good crack with only 20 odd people.
I would try to wheelie the entire length of the track. As for drink driving I quite frequently ride my Mx or enduro bike whilst under the influence
But only on my land and honestly I push it the bit further to the pub lol

  9. Had another thought on this - would public liability insurance be required?

Most uk track day organisers ban timing in the grounds that it invalidates their insurance - so if hiring for a no profit private day would any of this apply?

  10. Those costings sound very very light, I've hired pembrey a few years ago for a car forum track day and it's £9k plus £400 for the Marshalls

  11. And yes you have to have public liability, and, as for example pembrey is not a member of the TDO, you have to arrange/ensure cover through a TDO otherwise people's own track day insurance i( for their vehicle) is not valid

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  12. FWIW - I would certainly look at doing one of these in just about any location. I too would lean towards Snetterton but open to others as well. Silverstone GP circuit would be mega!

  13. I guess if we could get enough people committed to doing it there’s no reason why not! Havnt really done the sums but doing it for no profit and just the opportunity of having a track exclusively would be amazing! I would definitely be in!

  15. Shame theres still no power anywhere!

  16. Yeah - it’s a little on the basic side - but free camping!

Plus I’m biased as it’s my local circuit and I have a generator!

  17. It’s not free mate, they charge £15 per head per night these days

  18. Went a few times last year and never had to pay, is this new for this year

  19. When did you get charged @bradders ? This is from the current website:
