One of my ( mates who just happens to come by, once in a year or two and just so happens to need something doing while he’s here) The sprocket off his monster, which now I’ve cleaned it is off to be painted, prob via another mte he’s about to chance visit somewhere.. Anyway, before and after and all that, plus my clutch casing.. Below.. Before blasting. Afterwards. Above.. Don’t know what caused a sandy coloured cast in the picture ( prob the shadow from workshop lights) , the actual finish is all over Matt, aka a natural grey colour.. X
Been busy... Head condition pre cleaning.. Quick built camshaft sprocket holder.. Cam locking tool and modified socket removing cam gear nuts.. After degrease Aqua blast stage one process two to follow.. Aqua process one up close.. Vertical head after stage one aqua.. Bagged parts pre cleaning .. X
That head condition pre cleaning looks pretty damn good to me. Are you sure you didn’t get the pictures in the wrong order? Nice work, keep it up. I love the fact you built your own aqua blaster. I put mine in the jacuzzi, didn’t make the slightest difference! Not sure where I’m going wrong
If you look at picture number1 up close you will see how the surface is two different shades, the stains etc are deep too.. I’m planning too ( after a lot of interest from work colleagues) start taking on some pieces of theirs in an effort to set up my own small business and break free from the port/FDRC ( Felixstowe Dock and Railway Company) x
Noods, looking at your first picture of the engine it looks like the belt tensioner is adjusted the wrong way, it should be adjusted counter clock wise, it looks to me as though it has been done clock wise, pushing the belt very close together. Cracking job of the cleaning. Steve More like this.
Luckily that’s a before pic but yes, those belt runs are virtually touching when static and would pretty much definitely touch when moving. Add to that the impossibility of achieving proper tension when turning clockwise and it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Well spotted Steve.
Yes thanks for that mte, we ( Glen@Moto v ) spotted it as soon as the cover came off, not that I would have known personally tbh at least until re assembly.. Also a keen pair of minces on here had that noted very quickly. That’s what’s great about this forum a community of people who so want to help, whatever.. Muchly many thanks to all, your comments and advice are pushing me upward and onwards so TY... x
Looking good mate - I like the bespoke toolmaking, I would probably bodge with sockets and bent spanners Early monoposto 916's with Cagiva graphics are one of my favourite bikes along side 1st gen Mike Hailwood reps and Aprilia RS250's....
