QD Exhaust

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Tripletrouble, Jun 7, 2012.

  1. Mivv decat link pipe with BR special Tuning Mark I baffle (mark II is more restrictive as the 'baffled' bit is smaller, thus restricting the exhaust flow...it's 1cm shorter). BMC high flow air filter, and FatDucs....

The air filter is located on the right side of the bike... If you look behind the right side of the fairing just above the footpeg.... The 'corner' nearest your leg. There is a plastic cover with 3 screws (it is sort of triangular shaped). The filter is in there. You can just about get it off without taking the fairing off. A simple swap and 'helps' with the running....

  2. Oh yeah, I'm sure Chris (CJS) would still be apoplectic about the BR baffle, but the mark I isn't as restrictive...it is probably a little louder when running, although when I was measuring it on my phone and comparing to the Mark II, it registered as slightly quieter!

Anyway, response in all modes is very good, and not muted in any way...the bike literally 'jumps' forward when you crank open the throttle, whatever mode. The Mark II doesn't do this, it is a little more 'muted' (for me anyway).

And fuel economy is better on the Mark I....both are much better than stock.

Now, I'm sure that with the QD and proper fettling, we could get more power AND better economy, but how much? Triptrouble, that's your mission, should you choose to accept....what is your bike like 'now', once you put it back to standard, and once the QD is on, and (finally) what it's like once Chris has sprinkled his magic dust on you bike! :upyeah:

  3. Boomer, like me has the full QD system with K&N filter. He took his down to Chris and had the full works done - 159 bhp at the back wheel

  5. That's the one Andy! It really is very simple to do...if I can do it, anyone can...

  6. I'm sold, really I am....I'm sure mine doesn't make this, even though it runs well/sounds good....all I need to do is sell all the things I've posted here to raise the necessary funds! Think of it as the 'David Duke' fund...bling a Mutley. I promise not to wear the tight mini shorts though...

  7. Only the insane DO NOT have a Quat D system.

  8. K&N filter and QD Exhaust it is for me as well then. Then down to CJS to blow more money LOL.

  9. Bob/Boomer, remind me again....what was the mpg like after you fitted the QD? As in what sort of mpg are you getting now, as compared to before?

  10. Don't worry Bob...just seen in the "mpg" thread... 43mpg.... About the same as I get now. What sort of riding do you do to get that?

  11. its a complete mixture - fairly easy going and some spirited stuff too which can't be helped tbh!

  12. Just fitted Fat Ducs to my std. system, it has transformed the bike at slow speeds. No more bogging down at low revs when you let out the clutch in first gear, no more waiting to feather the clutch. It idles smoothly at correct tick over revs.
    Very pleased.

  13. Same as original system really, never notice much change, but I did fit QD quite early on when I got the bike

Interestingly the mpg is slightly worse after CJS custom map, I guess by about 4 mpg, never bothered to accuratly measure it though?? I usually average high 30tis low 40tis

But worth it for the grin factor! And most of my riding is.....? Well put it this way, on the gas!!!

  15. +! ...........but at the very least the brackets need powder coating black ;-)
Not sure about the style/design of the bracket either, something more like this would have been nicer imho...

  16. Not impressed with the service and "non truths" I have received. Exhausts will not be here now until the end of the week.

  17. QD are flat out apparently...I had a conversation with Manuel Deliso (owner). 15 days for delivery is the quote. The QD also has a bracket on it to stop the centre stand hitting the pipes. That's what he said anyway....

  18. Normally i would not post regarding individual customers transactions however i feel that i do need to put my side across.

As many of you know Spareshack has a German partner Daniele Moto who we share a joint stock holding with. The exhaust in question has been dispatched from them direct to the customer. This often happens as normally the customer would notice no difference in transit time if it were shipped from our office in Guernsey or from Germany. Unfortunately in this case there was a hold up in the dispatch of the exhaust which was meant to be dispatched towards the end of last week but did in fact not get shipped until Monday. We are currently looking into this. I realise that Tripletrouble feels that he was told a "non truth" that he was expecting the exhaust to come direct from us, but had there not been a hold up with dispatch in Germany he would have noticed no difference.
I am not in the habit of deliberately misleading my customers and am quite happy to discuss this in more detail as i have offered to in a private email to the customer in question.

  19. The QD's DO have a c'stand stop/bracket thing on them. I posted a pic ages ago when none of you buggers were paying any attention to my bleatings about the QD's but no one listens to me except Andy & Ebrew :)
...and if you look closely or enlarge the pic of the worlds greatest machine posted earlier, you will note the c'stand "stop" directly under the right peg.
It stands out like dogs bollocks, probably because it's not black anodized same as the exhaust hanger isn't as was pointed out to me by some whining old bastard ;-)........WILLIAMSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :)
Oh and for what it's worth, I purchased these way back in October from Joe and he looked after me like a champion - and I'm in effing Australia!
    Relax, you'll get your QD's.
id nearly go another set Joe, just in case you understand ;-)
