QD Exhaust

  1. agree with you on the colour Andy, but i think they are shaped like that because it follows the shape of the pillion foot pegs. im thinking of removing my rear pegs anyway and wouldnt mind painting the bracket black, what bolts are on these ones?

  2. Ugh, what's that silver monstrosity under the right footpeg? Oh, it's the centre stand stop thingy...

I know....and I confirmed it by talking to Manuel...so merely reiterated what you had shown in the picture.

Everyone had simply been distracted by the beauty of the QDs to notice anything around the footpeg area...

The QDs will turn up....keep calm everyone. :upyeah:

  3. Beauty is one thing; the sound another!

  4. Is that a spot of dust I see on the front brake calliper?

    Love it! :upyeah:

  5. No it's a 999 with bugger all miles on it. Not dust.

  6. E-Mail just sent to QD exhausts;
    "Hello
I have bought a QD system for my 2010 MTS 1200S and fitted it today.
It fits fine but the centre stand stop plate is a disaster.
The spring sits above it, rolls over it when you put the stand down, tearing
the rubber covering then jams between the bracket and the stand, stopping
    the stand going up fully.
Did you try this before putting this into production?
The only thing to do is to cut off the bracket then try and fabricate
    something that works.
I am very unhappy about doing this so will use my bike without the centre
stand until you give me a satisfactory solution.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Pictures enclosed."

Properly pi55ed off with this, the design of that bracket is utterly pants. IMG00212-20120618-1037.jpg IMG00214-20120618-1037.jpg IMG00215-20120618-1037.jpg

You can see the damage done to the spring covering after trying just the once as the edges are like razors.

  7. Morning Triple. Mine should be with me tomorrow, sorry to here about this mate but I need to ask, how does the thing sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Fine. Louder than I expected with the DB killers in if I'm honest. Not quite as fruity as a MiVV and Termi though.
Not ridden it yet, plan to do that a little later.

  9. I sprayed the can hanger and joining plate satin black yesterday, it needs that IMHO.
When the winter comes I'll have them powdercoated along with the rear footrest hangers as well.

  10. Well they sound really nice. I've left the baffles in.
Love the sound, very disappointed that QD haven't replied however they may no work on a Monday so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and another 48 hours.

  11. Tried phoning them?

  12. Its hard to tell from the pictures, but can you not bend the centre stand bracket away from the spring....youve probably thought of this already....just wondering???
    :upyeah:

  13. That will be my next action Fritz.
I didn't want to do that in case there is a mistake and it needs to be sent back or replaced under warranty.
It can be made to work but when spending well in excess of a grand you shouldn't have to do it.
I'll see what they say and go from there.
@Bradders - Difficult as I'm out in work during the day with just my mobile and work would freak if I had a 5 minute conversation to Italy on my mobile.

  14. Go to Money Saving Expert: Credit Cards, Shopping, Bank Charges, Cheap Flights and more and look under the telecoms section. Then look for mobile to mobile calling (international), and get one of those cheap to call numbers for calling Italy. Then give them a call. .... Try to speak to Manuel De Liso if you can..he's the owner...speaks English and was very helpful. I'm sure there must be a solution, as I can't imagine they would have a product with such a fault....

Maybe also speak to Joe (Ace848) at Spareshack...he got the exhaust for you, and I'm sure have sold others, so he may have some advice regarding fitment.

Also, why not ask Bob Cooper and Boomer, here, if they have centre stands....they both have the QDs...

At the end of all that, I'm still interested in how you get on....mine are being made in the factory. Well, hopefully.... ;-)

  15. Hi Tripletrouble,

Sorry to hear you got probs with your QD system

I have a MTS Sport with no centre stand, so i didnt have the centre stand stop problem

In fact i cut that offending little bracket off, cause i didnt like the look of it! So all i can tell you it is made of stainless steel and quite hard!

  16. Ar right they are not Uk, sorry didn't realise, in which case I'd be emailing too

  17. Sorry to see that with the c'stand. Hope it all pans out but in the meantime, do yourself a favour, take the DB killers out. I'm not joking. Do it. You'll be rather shocked especially after the MIVV & other observations earlier :) maybe that will put a smile on your dial :))

  18. Mine have arrived. Do you mean all DB killers or just the loose ones that go in the de cat pipes.

  19. The slip in DB killers in the pipes. The QD's eliminate the CAT box so the slip in ones in the pipes are the only ones.
Earplugs in ;-) FatDucs on. Press Start tit. Sport mode.

  20. There are 2 sets.... The ones in the mufflers, but also some loose ones that go in the pipes. Under no circumstances fit these, unless specifically to pass noise regulations. They seriously rob power.
