I think you’d be surprised how quick a fast bike is around a track compared to street cars. Race cars are completely different animals. The bikes are more similar when it comes to motogp/wsbk and these uber street bikes.

 

Yes, a road car weighs at least 1.5 tons generally and rarely have more than 800HP, a 200HP 180Kg bike will always win against them.

Do F1 BSB motogp all use the GP circuit at Silverstone?

 

Iirc it is the only track where they have exactly the same layout, isn’t it? So times are exactly comparable.

 

Can’t find any times for the hyper car trip for the GP circuit.

 

It's not that easy to determine unless you have data from known fast racing drivers/riders using the car/bike. A keen club or national racer setting a time with a £1M+ car will no doubt be a lot slower than Hamilton doing the same as we're all aware, it's not easy to do accurate comparisons without the data.

Comparing the best drivers and riders in various championships at the same circuit is easier as we can just look up the numbers.

 

The whole bike vs car thing has been done to death. F1 is a different league so forget that, downforce is the real game changer in that.

It comes down to skill and the track, but with skill there’s simply too many variables as bikes are a lot more difficult to safely ride on the edge whereas as a modern car is a piece of piss and I come from a family of 4 wheeled racers.

However with equally well skilled pilots, a bike can be quicker than a car around a track, depends ofcourse on the track. But I don’t see it being an issue. It takes a fast road car with a good driver to get below a minute laptime round Brands for instance but on a bike if your doing 1min + laps round there you’re well... shit.

Yes cars can brake later and generally carry more corner speed, but corner speed isn’t as massively different as you might be thinking on some tracks.

There’s not much in the way of cars that’s quicker than a superbike round a track unless we’re talking slicks & wings of prototypes etc.

 

MotoGP and BSB the same but as @bradders pointed out, the F1 guys cut Chapel.
