  2. Just ordered a new alloy nut from California Cycleworks (not in California), and a fresh viton seal - ouch, best part of a tenner for that.

  3. All fitted and bike up and running again, the hardest part was refitting the pump housing into the tank with the new O ring fitted, i could not get it to just push in by hand without the O ring popping out of the side, i ended up getting it all square and screwing some slightly longer screws into the 3 holes and carefully and evenly screwing the housing into the tank by that method and it worked, its no longer leaking ,also fitted a new fuel filter while i was at it.

  5. My 916 has been stood in the garage longer than it should have been, went to move it early in 2022 when garage was being stripped and re roofed. started and moved fine as it has been quite regularly, but stuttered a bit when moving it back a few days later.
Looked in fuel tank just for giggles and touched fuel pipe, whereupon a decent amount of black goo/gunk came away from the pipes in my finger. My engineering segment of my brain suggests this is not a 'good thing'.....

I need to do a strip down of the tank/fuel pump etc so will prob need new QR couplings, filter big gasket etc, one question which I was planning on asking @bootsam after his marathon saga a few months back -https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/boots-thread-for-daft-questions.87662/page-4#post-1883254

how many yards/feet/inches of the right fuel immersive pipe will I need to buy in advance?

  6. You need about 30cm

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  7. in total? to cover all pipes within?

    ta

  8. I agree, looking at the lengths involved when I had my pump out last week.

  9. I bought 1m from i forget where. That was more than enough. I doubt you need more than half that.

  10. You only need a bit from pump to filter and then from filter to outlet. The vent pipes don't seem to get affected by the ethanol and they are different diameter too.
Demon tweeks sell the stuff reasonably priced or cohpro have it very cheap but postage makes it about the same as demon tweeks if you only buy 1 metre.
You'll want the big fuel pump plate oring too.

  11. Just been looking myself on ebay.

FUEL SUBMERSIBLE HOSE J30 R10 FOR PETROL DIESEL 8mm
I believe R10 is the spec for submersible.
    £16 for 300mm.

    Cheers Gaz.

  12. My vent pipes were also poor, so I also replaced those. With just an extra bit of length to make things easier.

  13. It’s my vent hose that I can see looks gone. Is it the same Size as the other hose/ included in the suggested 30cm ( 12 inches) length of new hose?

    ta

  14. Well I used the same hose TT. I just bought 1m of the correct ID/OD for the pump itself and used what remained for the vent pipes too.

  15. Bit pricey for vent pipes!

Use generic fuel injection hose for the vents and save your money.

  16. Cheers boss. I’ll get ordering and venture into the garage with a club hammer to do some surgery.

  17. I'm in the process of trying to replace the hoses that feed my 998's injectors, as one of the quick disconnect fittings literally snapped when I was removing the tank. I've got the airbox off (well, up) and I've got this guy off the bike.

There is a soft rubber outer hose covering a hard plastic inner hose, and that plastic hose is very hard to remove. Is there a secret to getting it off, or should I just carefully cut it off? I need to get rid of the plastic hose so that I can attach the new rubber hoses to the brass union that goes up into the airbox.

I'll be replacing the factory quick disconnects with these guys.

  18. Isn't the hard plastic part just a nozzle that the softer rubber pipe pushes onto? ..if so just pull the rubber pipe off and replace - or am i missing something?

  19. I think I might be missing something. The soft rubber hose appears to only protect the hard plastic; the soft rubber doesn’t seem to actually carry fuel.

But the hard plastic line is on there really, really tight..
