ah...indeedy...well, looking forward to seeing how you get on... on another note did you ever get round to fitting the HID light to the HM, I ordered one, but couldn't bring myself to butchering the existing light fitting, specifically the watertight cap behind the halogen bulb to route all the extra wires... not enough skill or tools... been looking at some of the LED options as aux lights.. not as neat as an integrated one but might get the job done..
Heh.....same as you...ordered it but couldn't bring myself to butcher it....so I'm going to get a different bulb and fit it to the KTM.
Wow Rhoose? That's a bizarre destination. Don't envy that trip in this weather. If I wasn't working nights I'd come and meet up.
Great day out on the bike, 300 miles, never saw the temp rise above 4 degrees, mostly 0-2 degrees, snow, rain, ice and a little bit of sun coming through Newtown. Feet and hands a bit chilly, Knox winter gloves and icon prep 1000 boots, but never painfully so. Will be back on the road heading north on the 29th
I'll be needing some BT30s I think as the supercorsas don't cut it this time of year - moved house so had to do the half mile trip between garages on the bike and had a sphincter twitching moment when the back end stepped out of line about 2 foot when I gave her too much gas. She's now wrapped up till spring!
Very true. I used to ride motocross and when I had a BMW GS all through the winter but these days it's the R32 putting a smile on my face in the grotty weather.
Agree re: BT30s. Just discovered my heated jacket isn't working so either need a new lead from the battery or the jacket itself is faulty. Will not be going out on my Hyper whilst this cold without it.
Hi Moses Agree with the heated vest, I'm in new town, just come over the Brecons, temp has been -2 all the way, I'm feckin freezing, relying on merino base layers, they're struggling
Man, what a ride today, not fast, not heroic, just long and effin cold, 300 miles, south wales back to the lakes, dropped to -4 going up the 470 from Merthyr, -3, -2 from the top of the Brecons all the way to Newtown, then a balmy 1-4, all the way home. Would have prefered it wet to the cold and slippery roads today, couldn't predict what the bike was going to do, especially tricky on those bends, over the hill to Newtown, the ones where it has the extra grippy surface on the corners, that runs out just when you need to start giving it some, thank the lord for DTC (and maybe the BT30s). Poor old HM is sat outside at home now, crusted with salt, it'll be getting an extra judicious bath in the morning and maybe some more ACF50. What a trooper though, couldn't ask for any more from a bike, what it might lack in comfort, it more than makes up for in character, that engine, that exhaust, even on the long stretches of dual cabbage way and the M6, every twist of the throttle brings a smile, might have even woken a couple of folks up whilst filtering...er..enthusiastically, on the A384 to Wrexham. I'm getting 90 - 120 miles before the fuel light comes on, depending on how robustly the throttle is used, but, honestly, thats about enough time to sit on the thing, it's about the perfect time to get off for stretch, coffee and a fag and today, a good time to adjust all the clothes i was wearing. Each time I stopped, I managed to fix one of the drafts and whistles round my neck or cuffs only to have it replaced with some other tortuous, freezing leak as soon as I set off again, no chance of falling asleep on the road, I suppose. Anyways, here it (she?) is, at the coffee layby on the brecons, where was everybody else?
I salute you sir! I was cold enough in my garage and that's 12 degrees in there! I'm chuffed with my Hyp sp, the acceleration puts my mates sports bikes to shame!
Wow you're a brave man tackling those roads in this weather. I was up around brecon in the ambulance last night and the roads weren't great by any means.
It was exciting! I think thats the word.... Hope you haven't been to busy with your ambiwlans over christmas, there seemed to be a lot of blue light action in mid and north wales..
Yeah we flat out everyday really. I'm based in Maesteg but we travel crazy distances responding to calls (you can be in Cardiff on one job then Swansea the next) nowhere near enough famblamunces and the ones we have are tied up in A&E waiting to offload. Anyway enough moaning, last night tomorrow (should be fun) then a few days off (hopefully get a ride in).
good work Mr Isaac, will let you know next time i'm down in the south wales, meet up for a brew, hopefully not in the back of your van!
Problem sorted thanks to Bike Stop in Stevenage: new lead fitted and heating back on! Been for a blast today and came back grinning from ear to ear and not frozen to the core. Funnily enough I saw more Ducatis out and about than anything else: a Monster, 916 and Diavel. The ride has blown away any thoughts of part-exchanging for something different. The Hyper is awesome!
I've been looking at multistradas and the new BMW S1000XR but I just love my hyper so much, it does everything is need.
