  1. Now its getting REALY silly!! Just seen a 1098R Bayliss advertised at Ducati Manchester for - - wait for it - - £34,995 !!! :Jawdrop:
Ok,it is new and unregistered but WTF !!

  2. Yes, but they will probably sell it, if not for that then close to it - supply and demand, if someone wants a new one then they have to pay it - remember £35K to some people is like £50 to me and you...

  3. The only way that 1098R Bayliss could hope to maintain that level of value though is to never use it and then buying it seems utterly pointless to me.

  4. yep that bayliss will sell to some rich banker or some it and be put in holding and probably never started, 35k piss take,

  5. That all depends on what you invest in if anything? I ride, build and invest in motorcycles - I have a new unregistered 4XV R1 that I could probably double my money on after 3 years and 2 bikes I could have doubled my money on straight away but chose not to (crap at investing in bikes I guess :) That said, I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole at £35K if I had it. There are people who wouldn't think twice about the depreciation who would buy it on a whim, use it a couple of times then go onto their next toy :)

  6. I think what i am trying to say is that Bayliss 1098R is only possibly worth £35k and not the £15-20k that all the other 1098R's are worth is because it has never been used. But if you bought it and used it, its no longer worth anymore than any other 1098R. So the only reason you might buy it is ti use it either as an investment and not use it or to go in a collection.

  7. It's worth what someone's willing to pay. Think of a Van Gogh. It's a painting. £26mill ??? Maybe...

  8. I have a Baylis 1098R, I ride it and love it and will NEVER sell it. I just hope whoever buys this one fires her up and takes off down the road on her. It would be a crime for her to remain unused. The bike is quite simply stunning.

  9. who decided on that price tag anyway ?
My 1198SP is for sale for anyone with £25,000. See you tomorrow with the cash ?

  10. Martin?

  11. Just remembered when I bought a 999R of them a year or two ago they had a new 1098 Baylis for sale then - probably the same one. El T may have seen it? I'm sure it was £18K ish :Wideyed: unless it was a different one and used but I'm sure it was new though...

  12. Then Martin is an ass !

  13. Who is Bayliss over here anyway. Surely the Aussies want it free with a cuddly Koala.

  14. OK, as its Christmas, I'll sell you half the bike for £12,500, the other half is free and i'll throw in a jar of cashew nuts from COSTCO.
    ( I f****** hate Christmas )

  15. I guess the good news for us riders is the silly season only seems to apply to these ultra low miles SP/SPS/R model bikes that attract collectors. The ones with more than say 6 miles on the clock may get a bit of a reality check eventually.

I got my 916SPS for a great prices 7 yrs ago with slightly more mileage than the 1098R in the link from my previous post.Ive enjoyed using it .If I ever sold it id put it back to standard and start the price at lower end of market. So as long as there are people out there that are prepared to ride the fucking things and spend a bit of money keeping them serviced right there will always be ltd edition ducatis for sale without the pull ya pants down and bend over price tags.

  16. He priced a mint 999R with 4500 miles a year or two ago @ £10,000 (with a full Ti 2-1-2 pipe fitted) then put in a MCN article the same week that it was £8000. I rang up Wednesday morning as soon as they opened and said I'd have it for £8K. He said he'd call me back - 10 mins later he did. He explained it was an MCN error but he would honour the £8K so I bought it.
When I called to see it a day later he said he'd had 16 calls on the Wednesday.
Top bloke, he didn't have to do that - if he prices it at £35,000 and it sells some where near that he's doing his job very well I guess. It may also be priced at that for other reasons, i.e. show room ornament - not to sell but if you really want it you can... Padgett's do that a lot with Clive's collection of zero mile bikes :)

  17. On the other hand if they are worth this in future then its worth storing them and never riding them.Never for me though as I prioritize having fun over making money before im 6 foot under.

Thank god its different with women.Imagine getting one of those lovely supermodels only to find out you cant ride her.Id be thinking waist of time and money lol.

  18. So do you have a pension? And regarding the supermodel, you could always wank over her :)

  19. I'd question the sanity of the buyer rather than the seller if that bike sells at £35k.

  20. I could never buy motorbikes as part of some pension plan as I enjoy riding them to much.

If I win the euro lottery id be interested in these bikes though as probably only a few days interest in cost.Id still ride em into the ground though.Id enjoy the fact ive saved it from being stuck unused in some collectors showcase almost as much as id enjoy all them miles on em.
