999 Race Bikes?

  1. As it’s a R engine they are the standard R Magnesium covers.

  3. R belt covers have intakes on them as standard.

  4. Lovely bike. My 2006 999R is the one that got away. Wish I'd never sold it.... :sob:

170 at the rear wheel must make it a rapid bike! Think mine was 150 and was well grunty. Don't low side it with that clutch cover. They tear off like paper. Ask me how I know :):upyeah:

  5. What is that oil breather kit you are referring to? I am highly interested!

I run a 999S as trackday bike as well.

It is cleaned from all unnecessary stuff, handbuilt harness, fork and shock had been rebuilt and sprung and shimmed to my requirement and what the expert suggested, it runs a STM slipper, KTM quick action throttle, Z04 pads, a Starlane quickshifter, Starlane Corsaro Pro GPS, a full 54mm Termignioni system and Rexxer mapping.

Current upgrades (my season has just ended last weekend in Hungary) are adjustable triple clamps, homegrown footpegs, Carbon tank (in 749R form), lighter wheels, lighter flywheel, racing radiator, Lipefo battery and a thorough check of the heads and some fine adjusting of timing.

And I need a better seat pad. I already had my original seat covered in nice Alcantara but it is still too slippery to my liking.
It will be the black foam stuff which's English designation is unknown to me. I am just unsure about the form. There are some quite rounded ones and some quite even/flat ones. Any user experience here on that?

  6. The breather kit was made by Ducati, they are like hen's teeth to find though. Try Wilf at Moto Rapido or Rich at Luigi Moto in the UK, they might be able to help source one.

I use a Ducati Performance Neoprene covered 999/749 race seat. It's essentially the same shape and high as the standard seat but super grippy. The perfect seat IMO

  7. Thanks t3scn!
Does anyone have a pic or explanation where the hose and fittings go?

Thing with the seat is that it might be better to change position if the sides are more roundly shaped. Would love to hear from anybody using such a shape

BTW I forgot Brembo RCS19 and Braking radial clutch master on my bike's specs.

  8. I don't have a photo to hand but can take one when I'm home if you would like?

  9. Would be awesome. As I had fiddled around, unsuccessfully I have to admit, with my crankcase breather I am currently running the (nearly) stock setup. So I am really interested to learn how a "perfect" breather should run the hoses.

  10. Er...its actually a longer stroke.....1098 with 749R rods and F06 pistons......;):bucktooth:

  12. and how does this oil vapour recovery kit look on the bike?? what is the fitment route???

  13. It connects the breather to the traditional oil filler on the clutch housing.
The old breather is removed and the new item is fitted linking the air box, crankcase and clutch cover together.
And then the oil filling is done via the new breather.
Uk cost 131.05 pounds from Moto rapido

  16. Is that an R motor?

  17. No, standard S engine with full Termi and mapping. Goes well and is enough for me but we will do some head and timing work now

  18. Are they sandcast cases on the S?

  19. Yes, the last ones in Ducati mass production
