Looks a lot like a model to me, photoshopped onto a real sea. Look at the figures of the sailors, the evenness of the grey, and painted on look of the corroded areas.
On April 11, 1945 a Kamikaze pilot attacked the ship with a Zero fighter Plane. After sustaining anti-aircraft fire the plane hit the starbord hull rail and disintegrated. The dent where the plane hit the ship is still visible today as a lasting reminder.
That may all be correct, but what are the chances of a camera man being on station in the exact position to record an unexpected event in 1945?
