I was 23yrs old and a passenger in a Mini travelling from Archway to Northampton daily when those cars were being tested up and down the M1.We would see them heading south on the other side and then coming back up on our side. My mate, Tony, who owned and was driving the Mini would be watching his rearview and then say "Hang on" he would keep well left as these cars went past but you could feel the slipstream trying to pull the Mini across to the right. As a young petrolhead it was something else...
No, no, NO! You're doing it all wrong. The crumble/fruit ratio is off, as it should be at least 2/1, but preferably closer to 3 or even 4/1. However, I do respect the fact that you are using a traditional flour and sugar crumble mix rather than doing that fucking annoying hipster/gastro pub thing of using oats instead.
Don't get me wrong... the photo was taken mid construction to show the fruit delights that would soon be completely covered by the rest of the mix. I have stopped making crumble from scratch if only because you get to see the vast quantities of butter & sugar involved - preferably dark Muscovado. And yes, oats are just a cheap way of getting that proper crunch and then foisted onto a gullible bunch of fashionistas who know no better...
