yours are a lot later than here, 90% have "gone over" now, having a much matted/glazed appearance, if they haven't fallen on the ground already. ..on a plus note - the squirrels have now chosen to ignore/forget about the massive hazel nut tree in the front garden despite an early, pre-ripe attack, and there will soon be more nuts to cope with than a Topic factory.
Yep, I do agree with what you say but having butter in the house would only lead to buying more scones, tea cakes and and ooo... crumpets on an increasingly regular basis...
Great so you can grind them (hazelnuts) up, grill them lightly then mix with melted milk chocolate, and set in slabs. Nothing like Ferrero Rocher a la Chris in an artisanal style!
