My fave was “He looks like he’s not allowed within 1,000ft of the elementary school he goes to” He’s actually a grown man. I had a snoop around his instagram page, and his profile says he’s a paramedic, plus, in one of his posts he talks about buying a house. In another post he talks about how he lost a huge amount of weight, which might explain his unusual appearance.
for me, YouTube is an incredible device, and compared to lots of other platforms they aren't really that greedy for starters. Like most on here I imagine, I listen to a massive amount of music and I've started more more to follow up their recommendations when it comes to suggestions of similar footage. that's the only way I found the Ichiban videos five years ago or more and that's how I chanced on the above.
Thanks for posting this. My wife is Palestinian, from Gaza city and so lived through things that nobody should. The BBC, in its “balanced reporting”, actually gives a very distorted view by portraying Israel as simply defending themselves while, in fact, they have been the constant aggressor since long before the nakba of 1948. When I met my now wife, all I knew about the conflict was based on the BBC coverage. She simply and calmly said, “if you want to know the truth then educate yourself”. She didn’t point me at any sources, I had to do my own research. What I found out horrified me. Some “right minded people” will say that there is blame on both sides and no workable solution. Sanctions and world opinion worked in South Africa and will work in Israel too. Anyway, if you want to know the truth then do the research. But I warn you, what you find out will upset you. If you want to do something about it then support BDS or Jewish Voice for Peace or any of an ever growing number of pro Palestinian groups.
The Irish were one of the First Nations to publicly call out Israel as an apartheid state. Do I need to switch threads?
I don't have first hand knowledge here, but could add so much from one observer's perspective, but will definitely get shot down in part. This is going to sound like fence-sitting but just generalising, if you are hounded, and it lasts through generations then the psyche is bound to undergo a change. Some of it is understandable and warranted and some of it is inexcusable and unacceptable. What is the answer? I have no idea.
Don’t worry about it, Chris. I’m not pointing any fingers. I have a personal interest and natural scepticism that was a driver for me digging into the history of the region. Without that personal interest my opinion would be based on western media bias which is, to a greater or lesser degree, pro-Israeli. My opinion is now based on UN resolutions, recorded history and the writings of Jewish intellectuals such as Ilan Pappé, an Israeli born historian, and Noam Chomsky, DDN, al-Jazeera and occasional reports from people in Gaza. There is a lot of literature on the subject, much of it polarised and angry, but I found Pappé and Chomsky to be measured but no less damning of Israel. As for the question of what can be done. Anything is better than nothing. Have a look at the BDS website to see what you can do, if you feel it is important enough. It doesn’t have to cost you time or money. Even something as simple as stopping buying Israeli avocados will make you part of the solution.
Depends, I’m not sure anyone can really defend Israel in it’s current form so I doubt you’ll get a polarised reply on here.
what's weird is that I know I saw this/these as watched every episode every week, but was only mildly funny to me back then. ..however, with the passing of time... can't help smiling now.
