It's worth noting that when my PP was written off one of the factors considered was the smashed speedo. It is linked to the ECU and keys. Over £3000 parts and labour alone.
Yes indeed the bosch ecu has a flash counter via OBD mode. But it can be bypassed. Im in the process of looking into this ecu right now and hopefully ill be remapping them on the dyno soon.
Well done Chris. Hope you are keeping well The DVT needs some work as most dynos are reporting just 134bhp, quite a way short of the160 claimed.
Isn't Ducati's 160 figure measured at the crank (or gearbox)? If so you'd expect a rear wheel figure of 145 at best. 134 does sound poor though.
They are still well down on that. The 2010 model [twin spark wasn't as good ] with no cat and high flow air filter could easily be tuned to +150 AT THE REAR TYRE
I mean pre-tune. A Rear wheel measurement is always going to be, give or take, 10% down on a crank/gearbox figure. Didn't the 2010 engine produce more power than the twin spark?
I'm heading to my dealer tomorrow morning to discuss the same thing, will be interested to hear what they say as do a lot of remapping and dyno work there, will update shortly
Yep. My 2012 single spark with standard filter and full Leo Vince puts out 151 at the rear wheel and a much more engaging ride than the DVT to boot.
Okay spoke to the workshop manager and a tech at An official dealer yesterday about an arrow full system and remap and this was the outcome: -Technically a remap does invalidate parts of a warranty -Something catastrophic would have to happen for a remap to be a result of the damage (proper worst case scenario) -Even if the remap was the cause of the damage this could easily be overlooked or even reset the ecu to default if needs be -Ducati will never come and inspect the bike when he writes up a warranty claim End of the day if your dealer is anything more than a salesman a remap should have no effect on your warranty. Warranty claims are paid work for them, and there's no reason for your dealer to try to expose something like a remap as a cause of damage! Sorry for the long post, hope this helps someone, certainly settled my mind!
So you are saying that the dealer and the owner can conspire together to deceive Ducati UK and conceal the truth. And that prospect settles your mind, does it? It wouldn't settle my mind much.
No it settles my mind to know an official dealer will support their customers to improve the enjoyment of their bike, all the way through to worst case, backing up a warranty claim if any work completed did need to be done as a result of pushing the boat out in an effort to create the bike Ducati should have made in the first place! I guess it's not for everyone and some would prefer mr.stock straight down the middle, just reassures me that id have support in such endeavours and not end up being thrown to the big brother wolves that are Ducati uk
I believe that Ducati pays the dealer a much smaller amount per hour for warranty work than the dealer charges a punter for non warranty work. So its all down to relationships I suspect.

The reason manufacturers can't sell bikes with perfect fuelling is due to emission and noise regs. Its not that they are being lazy or awkward.
As tested under artificial parameters; in the real world a "richer" engine can give better economy due to improved drivability.
There is but the tests they have to meet are based on emissions. If it was about economy, we would all have to ride round on scooters.
