  2. TBH there's no Harris stuff on this bike, I used some Harris stuff on the BMW, Clip ons, Stands and I think that was it.

  3. Nice, look forward to it as well, you know my bike so come look me up :)

  5. Martin is quick most places. I hear he helped Biaccho on the MR bike a couple of years ago. Martin showed him the way around. 2 sessions later he couldn't keep up.

Reminds us what a step change the top fellas really are when a guy known as being real fast, on a circuit he knows like his living room, is usurped in a few laps.

  7. I have been there a couple of times now, on both the Desmo and the 848. No quicker on the Desmo! But more fun (see Avatar).

Most of these times being quoted here are more than respectable. There's a lot of nonsense talked on track. I am still 1:50's and have only been riding track for a short while, but I am certainly not at the back of the pack. Yet other people's quoted times always seem to be significantly lower than mine...... hhmmm..... go figure! They seem to get faster away from the track!

In the 1:40's there is quick enough for sure - well done lads.

But both times I have been there I have also seen Tito Rabat circulating as I think it's his local track so he gets to practice a few laps when we are all at lunch etc. I have clocked him there on his 600, not just doing 1:36.6 laps, but doing 1:36.6, 1:36.6, 1:36.5, 1:36.5, 1:36.6 etc..... not just quick, but inch perfect and utterly humbling.

That's quick. The rest of us are just playing as speed is like a log curve with the last seconds harder and harder to get - so he is almost in another postcode compared to me! But they he is world champ, in our collective defence.....!

Have fun and hope you get some good scores on the board.

  8. Id just like to say that was a good lap....never been on a trackday of any sort (cant afford it with wife, kids, house etc etc...) I think id be crying in my beer if I trashed a brand new set of tyres in 2-3 days (and probably more) the closest I get to a track day is 4 days at the TT on the mountain....kind of like a track day with pubs thrown in along the way...saying that usually when I come back from the TT the tyres are done.... Ill definitely get to offshore trackdays but probably later in life when the kids are not so dependant, and the wife lets me!

Oh yeah - lovely bike as well, have to make do with my old rsv4 (which is by the way fast enough)! - for me anyway...

  9. Well that's me back from Almeria safely although I must say I have never seen so many accidents and stoppages in a 4 day period as there was there.
I had limited track time due to some problems.....none of them Ducati related.
HM QS wasn't working, not sure what was wrong but I missed a couple off sessions until I got it working. I had issues with the camera system on the bike which is down to a faulty cable which isn't allowing the camera to charge. And the biggest issue was on Day 3 when I fitted my brand new Dunlops with a view to getting in a good time.
    Tyre 1 - Dunlop Slick
I came in after 5 laps as it didn't quite feel right - Tyre was split from rim wire to about 1/3rd of the way to the centre of the tyre - seems to be a manufacturing fault - scrap after 5 laps
    Tyre 2 - Dunlop Slick
I did 5 laps and likewise it didn't feel right so I came in and had a look - it was wearing pretty bad. I went out next session and managed a 1.48, after 5 laps bike spinning up all over the place, back in and tyre totally trashed.
This was my 1st experience of Dunlops so it was off to a bad start - 2 Brand new tyres trashed after a total of 15 laps.
A friend gave me an almost new scrub to try so on day 4 out I went - pretty worried to be honest - but it managed a session and it looked ok.
I qualified 10th for the race and managed to get up to 6th place and was gapping 7th place but I ran out of fuel on lap 5....and had to retire....ouch. in the race I managed a 1.46.4 which is 0.4s faster than I managed on the S1000rr and this was with a part worn tyre which was still good after the race.
Over all I'm pleased with the way the bike handled, I managed to stay with the S1k's on the straight providing I go a good entry onto the straight. Bike speedo indicates 174mph but GPS says 161mph....I tend to believe the GPS.
The tyre at the top of the picture is a Pirelli that I had used for 2 days.

A link to my fastest lap in the race

  10. Im in shock at those tyres WTF

  11. From what the experts at the track told me, they are French made...they had a run of bad ones and it looks like I got 2 of them. Not only the expense but I could have been killed. Not a happy bunny and they will be right back to Dunlop upon the bike's return.

  12. Oh well that explains a lot

On anther note talk to me about that camera set up

  13. It's a phone, I just point and click or do you mean the video ?

  14. Very droll :Banghead:

  15. One of Matt's @Matt DWrecker slicks went the same way.
Did you buy at the track?

  16. No, I bought of my local dealer and took them over.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  17. Edited my post...I really thought you were going to show me how to set up my camera, then it dawned on me you probably meant the video.
Video is Aim smartycam HD coupled with an Aim EVO4 datalogger with added channels for front and rear suspension pots and a gyro. The suspension movement in the video is not correct as I re-tuned the pots but forgot to correct the video overlay scale.

  18. @Niven770, fair play to you :upyeah:. Shame about the quick shifter and the tyres although there is a lesson for all of us in there. Just fitted Metzler K1/K2 to the 748 for Cartagena and wasn't going to bother with spares but your experience has changed my mind. Andy

  19. Fuck I have just seen the price of the Aim EVO4 datalogger. I'll stick with my GoPro and a shit music track overlaid

  20. Yup, I had a set that did that. Have another set on atm and I'm pretty sure they are going the same way :( £320 a pair it's pretty disappointing tbh. May well just stick with Pirelli in future.

There was another guy in our garage at Almeria that managed 15 minutes before it started doing that on the dunlops as well and I heard from a reliable source we weren't the only ones to suffer. Wish I had kept the tyre, but I didn't realise at the time. 1st set of slicks I have ever had too, was hoping for a better experience.
