  1. Good evening sir. Red fluid on the garage floor sir? Perhaps you should present yourself for questioning at the police station sir...

  2. For balance, Ive used this Comma after someone on here recommended it. Its cheap and no leaks and no probs. (so far)

  3. Run the bike today to ensure battery wouldn't go flat and greeted with more fluid on the floor. Also discovered the coolant level window and looks empty.

  4. It's the water pump failed, had it on my 899, my mate had it on his new 959 and I've seen dozens, infact if you google it you'll see loads of threads on it. Coolant starts to leak out of the relief hole at the back of the water pump (between the V) and when on a side stand it runs down around the front of the stator and out the bottom of the fairing.

I had my bike serviced and within 300 miles it had lost all it's spare reserve of coolant.

Get it booked in, don't get sealants etc.

  5. No way of seeing it as can't get light into it

  6. Took the right side fairing off and checked the clamps, and the radiator cap. All look fine. Will take off the left side tomorrow and run the bike to see where it originates from. Hope it isn't the water pump.
Booked in at ducati Chelmsford but they haven't got any slots until end of August. 5 weeks from now :(.

Planning on topping up coolant to see where the leak is. Anyone know what the oem coolant is and where to buy it?
Thanks for all the help thus far all.

  7. You should be able to see it without taking the fairing off, although my memory is getting a little fuzzy. Coolant wise it varies by dealer but it's a fair bet it's Shell, most of the bikes over the last 7-8 years seem to come with Shell lubricant affiliations stickers.

  8. It's an AGIP fluid (not Shell) - there's a thread with info on here recently and I bought from eBay. I'll grab the details from my laptop later...

Edit: er, um, post #20 :bucktooth: Thanks @Gerr

  9. Got my fluid from local Ducati dealer....Eni bike s ...£9 ish per bag. (Eni took over the AGIP brand .....

Probably best to find the leak before emptying money into the coolant tank.....

  15. My 1299 has been fine with it for 3yrs, inc almeria at >30°C

  16. Well .....I use the Halfords version of that in my scoot (GTS 250) ...since 2009..... 36000 miles ....and no probs .. I've only done 2 coolant changes in all that time ....o_O.

I guess when it came to the multi ....I thought balls to it I'll just go get the stuff Ducati use. ....what with worries about head corrosion etc. .. I know ..I know ... We don't own these bloody bikes. ...they own us ....:joy:

  19. I may have found the culprit. Its a mess down there but looks like coolant is pooling underneath this clamp (red circled)
