There is a link to the entire restoration thread which I’m pretty sure anyone who bids with serious intention of buying would look at?!
I mean it was rebuilt by a highly respected Ducati specialist who inspected everything before the rebuild so yes!!
He's obviously just read a thread on crankcases. But yeah, they're fine. They become not so fine if a conrod goes through them or a main bearing seizes and spins in the machined housing. I had a look at them myself, all good.... He'll be questioning the ashtray next
Not just, but I have read several threads on crankcases. They are considered consumable on race bikes, and are changed before they fail, aren't they? Obviously this isn't a race bike, and 1098R road bike cases would be fine for a lot of miles, but this hasn't been a road bike either. It's an unknown at the end of the day, unless you are a professional metallurgist, with X-ray vision.
I think you just need to buy a brand new bike mate It always makes me smile when a blokes looking for a box fresh 10 year old bike/car/whatever.
I have to say, owned by two members of this forum, professionally rebuilt & with documents to prove it all, this would be a dream bike for me. If there was any possible way to trade up from my 1098s to this particular bike, I’d not hesitate. The wife however would see this matter somewhat differently
