748 Removing Tank

  3. All sorted! New connectors arrived today - thanks @Exige !
    Removed clip with hacksaw - thanks @Expat Jack - and fitted jubilee clip.
    Block of wood really helps - thanks @RickyX
    All put back together :)
    Once you've seen the bottom of the tank it is so much easier to understand how to take apart and put back together.

  4. I'd make a couple of points:

    Firstly, the 'low-tech' solution on the 'E' bikes is arguably better than the somewhat flimsy QR fittings (although, as noted, they can be replaced). A small amount of fuel will dribble out, but it shouldn't be much more than that.

    Also, on the point about using a block of wood, it's probably worth saying that depending on why you want to remove the tank, if it's just for inspection, access to the ignition switch, say, it may not be necessary to disconnect the fuel lines, the tank can be withdrawn backwards and mounted on a block of wood sat on the frame.
