Update.... Just left the sleeves out as per manual. They looked pretty bad anyways. The new damper wool was long strands so I guess it won't blow out. Fitted everything back in. At first the back didn't fit into the canister anymore, but with clamps, screwdrivers and some force got it to fit. In the end it is as loud as before but at least it isn't cracked anymore.
