Back to the heat-shield question... On my own bike (as I said in another posting ) , I had all the carbon bits added pre-delivery. The shield I got is matt finish carbon, does not discolour but neither does it do any better than normal at preventing my right thigh from being cooked at lower speeds. I saw the picture of a long-skirted version and wondered whether it was more effective? I am impressed by the looks of the un-clad pipe but would never go there on account of the massive heat radiated by that section. I am considering some kind of practical but still aesthetic mod to my shield that actually does the job of shielding... There's a surface treatment used on F1 exhausts which is a brilliant heat insulator, consisting of some kind of porous, heat-resistant paint... We'll see.
