  8. That looks great. Makes the 1299 look boring in comparison. Are you a painter by trade?

  9. Hi d8mok. I aint a sprayer. I work for Nikon on X-ray machines. I got advice from a buddy who was a car sprayer, but I wanted to do it myself. This is now my track bike, so I wasn't too fussed on making a few mistakes. It took 2 weeks to do, doing it in the evenings, and weekend sometimes taking more than an hour to put the masking on and getting the lines perfect. It was so much fun doing it, and getting it to look as good as I could get. I made quite a few balls up, but this was a learning exercise. The finish aint 100% but it aint far off. There's a few little blemishes, but that was down to me rushing at times, so had to respray a few times. But when I do the 1299 I know what to do. That will be 100% coz that is my road bike. Will be great to have both bikes the same, and say I did it myself. And yes, the plain red 1299 is a bit boring now. Cant wait to clock up the 600 miles for the first service, then I can start on that.

  10. looks bloody lovely mate - well done!!

  11. I would recommend you taking it to be clear coated after you've finished the 1299 as aerosol will look tired extremely quickly if its used on the road. Great job!

  12. Top job that , I haven't got the confidence to take on a paint job like that, but then I just use aerosols on my track bikes, I wish they looked as good as that .

  13. Hi, it was proper spray paint used in guns but put into cans, was mat finish with clear coat on top. Glad you like it

  14. Looks really good Mushio. I have been playing with design for 1299 before I get it done over the winter. Interested to see what design you are planning? Mockup of my design attached here. I am looking to keep it simple but add a touch of GP.

  15. WOW even better if you used aerosols !! :upyeah:

  16. are you going to do that yourself or are you getting it done professionally so to speak mate?

am looking at getting some custom vinyls fitted myself but am down in the south east

  17. Professional job, quoted £800, take the full bike so it can be marked out with the panels on the bike. I will then strip and leave the panels for painting.

  18. The paint I used was from 'Bike Colours'. Not cheap, but very good quality and a perfect match. As Frances said, it was base coated first, decals added then 5 layers of clearcoat.
If you go on Bike colours website, they get nothing but praise, and I was recommended to use them from a guy in the profession.

JonE The 1299 will be done the same as the 1199 The only thing I will change is maybe widen the red stripe on the middle panel, and maybe a slightly bigger Ducati decal above it.
