Revving Issue, 750sport Ie My2001

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by Loz, Jun 23, 2015.

  1. If a pick up has been taken out by a wobbling flywheel , you'll need to get a pair of new ones from Electrex. They'll then need to be spliced in as strangely they don't come as a plug and play kit.
If you don't have a Haynes manual, get one. They may not be perfect but they are a huge help.

btw, I leaned the bike over to the right to avoid draining the oil. Worked a treat

  3. I have a 750as ie which had misfiring issues. It would be crap around 3500 RPM. I found it was the TPS. The PF3C is not like a standard linear sensor, it is stepped. (Though god knows why) It is well known for having issues at the step point, which causes bad running around 3000/4000 rpm. Being non standard it means instead of being around £20, Ducati charge around £180, which is why the pattern ones from California are so popular, as they work out cheaper. You should also check for corroded connecting pins in the TPS connector, as even though they have a rubber seal, water gets behind it and rots the connector. Once I replaced the connector and TPS on mine, it ran sweet.

  4. I import those from California

  5. yep had water issue with tps on mine had to replace plug
and clean pins luckily that sorted it
sealed it with silicone gasket sealer to stop water getting in again as the waterproof seal was crap

  6. So - once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how expensive, must be the truth.

Having dismissed all electrical gremlins I (and you guys) could think of ... in the end, it was a blocked fuel injector. Well done those of you who are nodding and saying, "Thought so!". The symptoms were so similar to previous ones, electrical issues which I eliminated one by one, that I was really scratching my head.

The good news is that I obtained an injector at half retail price. The bad news was that I had given up, so it was the dealer who sorted it. He now owns my house.

Still, the 750 is up and running so the 999 can be laid up until I can afford to service it. Just have to pay for the external house painting/repairs, a new dishwasher, an upcoming fine, a new fridge-freezer, a possible bit of bling for the 999 I've promised to buy, the national debt, the ...

  10. Hopefully the final chapter of this saga.

Bike has been running well with its PCIII and two working injectors but ... heavy on the fuel much? I reckon I was at around 75-80% of usual mpg. Performance was good though.

Regular viewers will recall a near melt-down I had the other night trying to get a copy of the old (non-USB) software so that I could fiddle with my maps. Well, today I attempted to fiddle with my maps.

Could not get the PCIII and the laptop to talk to each other. I researched issues fairly extensively and the best case scenario was that the software would only communicate with the device if I had a map loaded. That's fine but I didn't want to load a map, push it to the PCIII and find that the software hadn't backed-up my current, bespoke and expensive map. I considered the risk of trying to load a zero map onto the device, then had a d'oh moment - try disconnecting the PCIII and go for a run.

The bike runs near perfectly now, seems happier at 2-3k rpm, and revs freely. Lovely jubbly. Just need to get through a couple of tankfuls of fuel to see if consumption has gone back to normal.

    :upyeah:
