  3. Actually is was a Guy driving the car prob very early 70s out with his wife and 2 grandchildren.. they were really shaken up.. Trust me he was right in front of me and was doing nothing wrong which I told the police, he had indicated in plenty of time his speed was decreasing as he approached his turn point and the traffic from the opp direction was nowhere near, it was just the biker was travelling at approx twice the limit had not taken into account a side road was approaching and was busy doing his thing! I must admit I had glanced in my mirrors a second before and there was nothing there, there was just a flash and a huge bang..

  4. It was a joke....

  5. Not read this one from the beginning but i have never ridden in shorts ever:upyeah:

  12. I did 55 mph on my cycle a few years ago coming down the snake pass decent on a sportive on 23mm tyres and obviously just wearing Lycra.
Genuinely never felt the same fear on a motorbike at any speed.
My neighbour did a similar one and the back light on a guys bike came loose and stuck in the rear spokes instantly locking the rear wheel during a high speed decent.
The guy was a complete mess.
Lost a lot of skin & flesh but fortunately didn’t hit anything.

Agree with the comments about speed of deceleration. It’s the reason why track riders can come off at insane speeds and sometimes walk away.
    No street furniture to hit.

  13. I agree to a point that you can do what you wish to yourself to a point yes, but, unless I’m very wrong shouldn’t you also consider the safety and welbeing of others too..
The family in the car, the medics etc, your loved ones..
it’s so easy to be selfish, trust me I know all too well, 18 months ago I took a huge OD trying to selfishly take my life.. I was not thinking about others at the time either, I was doing what I wanted to do..
I’ve damaged my family and my health for life..
Our decisions more often than not affect others..
a Bee hitting a bare limb at 80mph, or a stone, is going to hurt, as is a flip flop getting caught in a lever, possibly causing a wobble loss of concentration and maybe a crash..

It’s a good job nursing staff and surgeons can’t say “ I will do what I want” when you go into hospital skinned like a rabbit and showing the white of your bones as this guy was, the surgeon could say, “No I’ll do what I want, I will not waste my time trying to patch up an idiot speeding on a motorcycle in shorts a t shirt and flip flops, I’d rather, perhaps selfishly, give my time to someone who may be ill, needing life saving surgery, but ultimately one who thinks of others first” ...

  15. And it’s thanks to my selfishness that I’ve now more good friends than I’ve ever had rite here on the DF.. Their selfless support gave me another chance to value life itself..

Who says good things never come from bad situations, or am I contradicting meself... x

  16. I'm not going to be such that I tell others what to wear on a bike. I've done the shorts, short sleeve shirt, trainers around town, jeans everyday jacket and trainers for very short rides and full kit no matter what on longer rides.

risk itself goes up when riding a motorcycle compared to most other forms of transport so you do you and I'll do me.

  17. It’s ok mte and thanks for your wishes.. Regrettably it sometimes takes a rather big jolt! To make you realise how lucky you really are.. I eventually woke ( I believe i was in a coma for 3 weeks or so?) to messages from the DF girls and boys which had been recorded by my kids and were being played on a loop and put in my poorly head via headphones.. I made my kids ill with worry for months, all because I decided to be selfish really.. Yes I had a rite to end my life, but look what it did to hurt others.. I still have a battle to fight, but I’m doing well.. and when I get low, I can post on here or simply ask for a chat, knowing, that instantly someone will say “ hey Noods, how are we today”

    You can’t buy that.... x

  20. You have misquoted me and then drawn an unconnected comparison trying to grind an axe about another subject entirely.
