Yes, always. I used compressed air. Oxygen becomes rapidly toxic at depth .... Balls... just got to the end of the thread...... got already telt!
Sadly I’ve just been told, the guy didn’t make it, he passed away during the night, our family nurse who we’re all so very proud of for her swift actions said he suffered a heart attack and couldn’t be revived.. Poor lad, thoughts to his family... x
I live in Southern Spain where the temperature at the moment is high 30s /low 40s. I wear full leathers, boots, gloves etc. even if I just pop into the local village. I'd much rather sweat my nuts off than grind them off on the tarmac! I also ride a quad up in the mountains, but again, full body armour etc.! Ride to stay alive.
Poor Sod, but lets be honest here. The chap would have known the consequences of a spill @ 15mph through 80mph wearing a tee shirt and shorts (even flip flops). Comfort over life was the gamble, if this was indeed the case or maybe Comfort + freedom + speed = Thrill, we are all programmed differently, sadly this guys time is over and we can choose to learn from it or crack on with our blinkers on. I have certainly made some poor decisions and do you know what, i will continue to do so (I'm not proud to admit). The best advice I would give is ride to the tolerance of the equipment and/or the situation. If it's your time it's your time. Peace
Truly awful and I really feel for the rider. However, wearing anything but full protective gear when riding a motorcycle will never end well in the event of an accident. I speak from experience whereby high quality protective gear probably saved my life. All I would say, it doesn't pay to be too judgmental, regardless of the circumstances, as there but for the grace of God .......
Has anyone attended a accident where somebody is dying as a result of neglect for what ever reason. That is something that stays with you forever, we are only a soft shell outside, protect it.
My sympathy is for the person who suffered the injury. People who help should do it out of kindness, money or fame. They don't need sympathy. In any case they don't get your sympathy if you don't hear about it, and they don't need it, therefore.That kind of auto-talk is, tommy mind, simply parroting another kind of worship you hearing the media. If you want to criticise the rider, do so straight fashion.
And i did that just yesterday (reading through the thread now) - went to Thruxton for the afternoon to watch the racing.....sweated my arse off for a good 5 hours. I was riding on my own (mate was away in Dubai) so i was on and, while ive never been to Thruxton before (expensive to get in, least amount of places to view from) the ride there and back was brilliant...worth the few kilos in weight i lost during the course of the day...!
I dont think wearing leathers is a good reason to have a spill or crash. All crashes are sad. There are going to be be more, and we must be wary, because cars, even on 'legitimate' turns either fail to indicate or do so in a late fashion... even on the turn. They'll shoot out of side roads in busy urban areas. Also, they'll do u-turns in traffic quest... so WATCH OOUT! Never trust one car. Rev in traffic or beep if necessary. Shorts are fine at any speed in any weather, just bear mind there are likely consequences when you crash. Very tempting in heat isn't it, tempting with no hard absolute rules in place (always full leathers). I have rules and am still tempted! Best to not ride in shorts etc. ... nut there is dressing light, plottering along on a moped or even ducati... you still get a nice breeze especially by the seat 2-30 mph; I only ever am tempted to do that on sandy coastal roads, because it seems not quite as bad as tarmac to slide off on. Always gloves and decent jacket too. UP to the shops , I potter up there and back. I have chaps to slip over my jeans, so its easy.
Sorry for the guys family but there can be no excuse for riding a powerful bike in shorts. We all have a choice and in this heat that choice is, do I sweat in leathers or stay in, it's not rocket science.
In this heat then for casual/fun rides, I tend to either do it early in the morning or in the evening when the temp has dropped a bit Because excessive de-hydration can be a big issue in this weather, especially on the longer runs that require full kit, I also use a camelbak. If you haven't got one then it might be worth you having a look also the other dreaded..minging-itus. Sweat soaked insides of leathers, always worth for looking for tips to keep the inside clean and fresh given most of us keep these for a while. Also there are some dry cleaners/motorcycle leather repairers who offer an indepth cleaning service for the inside but make sure they are familiar with bike leathers
I was out saturday, sweated my tits off. But full leathers inc back protector etc for me at ALL times. Because sometimes I just cant resist nailing that pani. Plus knee downing the odd roundabout would smart a bit.

I frequent squires cafe in sherburn quite a lot. This year there seems to be a new gang of young riders. L plates some scooters some bikes. Point is some of them have full protection. Some of them shorts & T shirts. 1st thing they teach at CBT is wearing correct clothing. I've even seen some of them stop & immediately just lift there helmet off. Not fastened. Feel like going over & giving them a lecture. Probably just get abuse & what do you know old man.
