  3. I have a local 'circuit' involving a couple of roundabouts and a motorway slip-road which turns left under itself in a lovely 270 degree swooping turn. Being a slip-road there's no traffic coming the other way and I can see the whole thing from above as I approach, so if it's clear I can really attack it. It's great for experimenting with body position and cornering technique. I'm hanging off more, but also getting my upper body more to the inside of the corner.

    A few months back when I started I was exiting the bend at about 65mph. Today I set a new PB of 87mph and the bike felt rock solid and stable - absolutely love the 999... :Happy:

  6. Yep completely. I do this too sometimes, it depends on the corner.

    A few weeks back I went round the outside of a Hayabusa rider who was pottering around the bend (it's a two-lane slip-road). He caught me up on the following bit of dual carriageway and gave me a big thumbs-up, which was nice of him!
     
  9. the 749 ( dont know about others ) has a handy cut out in the tank where i can get my forearm into to help pull the bike accross

  11. Cheers - I might have to try your two games - sounds interesting.

    It's definitely a good idea to have something that focuses your mind on your riding techniques when you're out and about, rather than just riding on auto-pilot all the time. I've been doing the IAM program as well and it's given me a fresh perspective on safety and just being more conscious of the information I am giving other road users. I'm generally fairly sensible (despite the evidence to the contrary!) but it's also good to push yourself provided you have a suitable bit of road and decent conditions.

    yip i have several of those perfect visibility corners on my commute where i like to "practice" :smile:
    for those that know it, the left hand corner after the cregan inn heading for fortbill high eighty's (too busy looking at the road) but only high seventy's coming back? several others where you are coming back on your self, ye canny whack it. :upyeah::smile:
     
  13. In that case why doesn't plod teach it in their pursuit training ?
     
  14. Prob for the same reason plod don't teach moto gp riders how to ride.

  15. Which is exactly my point, what is best on the road is not the same as best on the track and vice versa.

  16. Plod bikes are typically much heavier so moving your weight around would have less of a beneficial impact than on a sports bike? Plus, for style reasons they want to look cool and not like they're trying too hard... ;-)

  18. I said good *fast* riding technique not the safest possible but still fastish riding technique. Riding fast involves risk. My balance or risk vs reward is completely different to plods. Plus the heavier the bike the less effective hanging off is.

  19. Cool, report back with what you think, and any modifications to the games, or new ones.

    You reminded me of another that I do sometimes when I feel like I'm on auto pilot, turn off the main roads onto country lanes, single track, with shit piled up in the middle are best, wakes you right up ;)
