Akin to Adam Lambert fronting Queen. It will never be the same again, but they could still put the music out there, if they sought a replacement drummer.
I have never lived without the Stones in my life. The fist song in my life I ever remember hearing as liking is when Get of of my cloud was released.
Led Zeppelin called it a day when Bonzo died as they stated it just wouldn’t be the same without him, fair enough. I can’t see RS calling it a day, they are reportedly more interested in the bankroll than anything else however great or not their music is. For me they could carry on and will with a replacement drummer, it it much more difficult if it’s the lead singer with only IMO AC/DC pulling it off.
Genesis managed it when Peter Gabriel left using their own drummer I think the Stones will carry on, they didn’t bat an eyelid with Bill Wyman left?
They may well have done but I’m not sure dressing up in a Gorilla costume was a good move either. Not being a listener of Genesis I’m not sure that was a great result off the top of my head I can’t name a single track by them. Gabriel’s solo work I like and having seen him live at Glastonbury he is a great performer. The £££ will keep them performing, Bill who?
they were actually both more successful, the band and Gabriel after he left, might be something to do with the runway hairstyle he adorned or the fact he told an interviewer his song writing ideas came from listening to his shoes? I’m sure Phil Collins (not Genesis) did very well out of that Cadbury’s commercial. Pink Floyd is another band that springs to mind, still did very well after Barrett and then Walters left, I’ve listened to Walters (post Floyd) stuff, it’s pretty torturous. they all know they can make a lot more from touring than they can from record sales (in the traditional or modern sense), Ed Sheeran’s so tight he won’t even she’ll out for a backing band on his tours
Great shame about Charlie Watts, all things come to pass though and those guys have had full lives. Great shame.
Lee 'Scratch' Perry was awesome. His influence on just about ALL genres is under appreciated. A real legend. We're dubbin' it today.
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding dies aged 39 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58456170 39 is no age
Sarah Harding 39….wtf is happening, the older I get, the less I understand?? Never a fan of their music, had no interest in them at all, but beautiful young girls like this shouldn’t be dying at this age, so bloody sad, my condolences to her friends and family, gutted for them.
she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year just far too young Sadly cervical cancer is another killer of young women
