My local MP is Stephen Timms. In 2010 he was stabbed by a muslim terrorist. Though seriously injured, he survived and is OK now.

Nowadays if you go to his surgery, you are first seen by one of his staff. You explain who you are and what you want. You only get to see the MP in person if the staffer does not think you are a threat, and you are never alone with the MP. All MPs need to do the same.

And please stop complaining about the money MPs get to hire staff.
