Totally agree, and unlikely to be surpassed in many areas. I will never forget the excitement of his mum immediately the election results were announced, who quickly removed her coat/jacket whatever, to proudly reveal a Carter T-shirt.
His death is obviously a great loss, and he can’t be compared to any current politician. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the current shower running the UK or the US any more.
Having read a few bits and pieces about Carter this morning it would appear to me that he was a decent man, who did a lot more good after his presidency than during it. His time in office didn't go particularly well, evidenced by the terrible result of the vote for re-election, but he then used his influence and position to do some good stuff whilst not being responsible for running the country.
RIP Johnnie Walker, a proper old school DJ the like of whom we are unlikely to see again. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce9051nljd3o https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c728nxnx03eo
When I heard the news this afternoon I was genuinely touched. someone who I listened to on the radio for a long time, often while driving for work. He didn’t seem to have a “show”. Rather that he liked spending time putting on music for people’s enjoyment , like in the days of records when you were around a mates house , flicking through albums, taking them out, always having a read on the back. Then use the album to roll something may be. I will stop rambling. But what I am trying to say is he seemed a genuinely nice bloke with no ego trip whatsoever!! RIP
RIP Patricia Janečková Gone at 25 years old - 18 June 1998 – 1 October 2023 I only just learnt of this devastating early departure for such a bright spark of light.
