Ta. When I posted earlier, this forum was the only place I could find the news. Was on Twitter etc. shortly after though.
I have just seen on MCNs site that Massimo Tamburini has died aged 70 The genius that gave us the 916 and MV F4 A great loss
Simon passed away this afternoon in Belfast Royal Victoria following his accident on the approach to Metropole at the Northwest 200 on Saturday afternoon, surrounded by his family. Simon epitomised everything that was good about road racing and came a long way in a short space of time. He had some awful luck and yet despite all this, never stopped smiling, even tweeting dumb ass grinning pictures with thumbs up form his bed in Nobles Hospital after his TT accident, grinning like an idiot. I always thought after his accidents that he was indestructible but clearly this was one battle too far for him to win. RIP Simon, you won't be forgotten.
Just seen at this pop up on social media. So very sad, especially following his big accident at Le Mans last year
Always an incredibly brave rider and so pleasant when interviewed. I think his crash on a Kawasaki in WSBK when he hit the Armco where the camera was as bad as I've seen. I don't know the details of this accident but hope the organisers can find money for more air fences.
