The phrase genius is used far too easily. But Prince was a f....g genius. Multi instrumentalist, could play drums, keyboard, bass and guitar to shame most rock guitarists. If in doubt watch his playing on 'while my guitar gently weeps'on youtube. Constantly changing and ahead of the times. I have every recording he ever made. Innovator, guitar god, songwriter. He was all of them.
never was a prince fan but in the last 10 or so years ive really enjoyed his old stuff on the odd occasion i get to hear it (did he make any new stuff?). quite surprised with his skills on that track. his music does take me back to different times and makes me smile... i guess thats what its all about RIP lil dude
That is a brilliant video. great song to start with but a fantastic version. Thanks for posting that.
Great video. More charisma than all the rest put together! Falling back on the security and the walk off stage after he throws his guitar away at the end. What a showman!
37 Albums in 37 years (I think) another great talent gone forever, Goodbye your Purpleness, Godspeed.
Shamelessly take from The Poke: "I'm sad he's gone too. If you draw a mustache on Rhianna's face, it's like he's still here"
Prince was a dick at the end of days, abused copyright to take down any content he didn't like, sued fans, shouting at the internet like a confused old man.
I have to agree. The more I've seen about him since he died, the more he comes across and a bit of a nutter.....a very creative and talented nutter admittedly. I guess bursting onto the scene at the age of 18 then being very reclusive isn't too good for the mental health!
Yes, supremely talented, but I think his head was firmly screwed up his own arse. (That's the defining characteristic of a narcissist, right?) A few years ago someone on a chat show, can't remember who, said Prince held a party where he sat in the middle of the room and the guests were meant to gather round and admire him. That was it. Of course, I could have completely misread him, he might just have liked ripping the piss out of sycophants.
Burt Kwouk, Pink Panther star, dies aged 85 - BBC News Always came across as such a nice guy. Played some excellent roles.
