Well he intimated almost exactly the same thing to Matt on the last Moto GP show when they interviewed him. So much exactly the same thing that I didn't need to read anything else for his position to be perfectly plain. He's not stupid. He can't really think that Burgess is making him lose the few tenths. But until he has eliminated the last variable, he can't be 100% sure. It's really just a way of getting some extra motivation and self-belief. Will this be enough? It honestly doesn't look like it. Of course, he may have regretted saying so - what does it achieve for him? Nothing. Just that at the end of every race now there is going to be Rossi speculation about his hanging up his leathers. Will he go after round 3 or round 4? Is he really going to hold out until Mugello? Etc etc etc. Cue another 5 threads and yards of column inches.
He certainly did, saying the first 6 races will tell him whether to carry on or not. I just can't make my mind up about Rossi and whether or not he should quit. He's running a safe 4th, with podiums and a win to his name last season, which would be considered a pretty good season by anyone else's standard. Those extra tenths are all in his head; if he can halve the distance between himself and the front three I believe his killer instinct will do the rest. If indeed he still has that killer instinct. But I remember three or four seasons ago Steve Parrish saying his big off at Mugello would effectively end his career at the top. Of course he shot himself in the foot by going to Ducati after that, but it certainly looks like Parrish's words are ringing true. For me, he has to hit the podium or stop. There's no point him circulating in midfield. That's not a way for a great champion to bow out.
who knows lol - dont shoot the messenger ! I guess he wont be so far because thats the latest to emanate from his gob lol
I must say that if his riding skills are deteriorating as fast as his once top communicating skills , he better stop this winter .. Or a wheelchair may be his next ride..
Completely agree with el t, never pushed the same again and he virtually admits that the last 2 tenths are down to balls, and he doesn't or won't push that lil touch more. I honestly believe sic's death has played with his head.
Hardly surprising I guess. But if he knows that, maybe it would be better to give his seat up to someone else who needs the break (I'm thinking Bradders here, obviously). Somehow though, I'm certain his career still has a surprise in store; he's still got some wins in him.
this looks like bad news...ex motogp rider Doriano Romboni has been seriously injured in an incident during practice today for the Sic Supermoto day. He's been airlifted to hospital where he remains in a coma. The event has been suspended. SBK, Incidente a Romboni al Sic SupermotoDay
Fearless rider, Romboni. This couldn't have happened at a worse event - an event designed to remember Marco Simoncelli. RIP fella.
difficult decisions to be made about tomorrow's event..... Biaggi's tweet.. Boys together we decided that tomorrow we will be on track with respect to all x In what form? We'll Decide tomorrow morning Forza Doriano!
didn't you slaughter Stoner for quitting while he was winning? Rossi wont go to WSB or cars. He has a GP Race team to run/mentor and he needs to stay in the GP paddock for that. he may quit racing, but he wont leave the paddock....if he does, SKY will not be happy.
Rossi's local mouthpiece, website pu24, claims that Yamaha and Rossi's new team VR46 will be sponsored by adidas in a 2 year deal to be announced in the new year. No, I slaughtered him for being a whingeing piece of shit who didn't pay his dues to the people who got him to the top. Of course, if you can prove me wrong I'll gladly apologise...
