I have read SteveR's post several times and nowhere does he call you a W*nker The way it reads to me is he doesn't act like a W and therefore doesn't need to worry about being banned
That’s subjective though. Normally people who act like wankers will be oblivious to the point they don’t know they are. Perhaps, oh I don’t know, posting up a little while ago that as they gave so much advice on the forum they wouldn’t support it financially by subscribing. To some people who read it, they may have thought what a w*****. But the poster thought it was ok to post and wouldn’t be interpreted by others as being a self important w*nker
I think it's worth remembering, the point of the thread was to show we have a set of rules that puts some at risk through not being fully informed, have shown where some inconsistencies have been experienced by members but mostly are looking for some guidence/input into making the rules system more transparent, open , impartial and understandable rather than have one that appears otherwise.
I suppose this proves a point. I think one thing and2 others think differently Who is to say any of us are correct but one thing is for sure a difference like this could get one or all of us banned out of the blue it seems
For a very short while I was a moderator on a different website and I have to say it’s not something I would want to do again. It’s simply impossible, even if you stick to the guidelines to keep everyone happy, somebody will always push a point and that will get a rise out of somebody else & all hell breaks loose. In any walk of life whether it’s a group of friends or a club meeting or an online forum, whilst we may have a shared interest, we are all individuals and if you allow a political point or a contentious topical point of news to upset you or you react in an upset way to somebody else’s point, The thread will deteriorate and sometimes get personal. It’s not possible to keep single issue sites such as this to a single issue, it would just become too boring and quickly die out, after all there is only so many times you can ask what colour I should paint this tank or how do I fix a misfire on my 999, so moderators will allow and encourage off topic talk and the vast majority of us abide by the general rules. I don’t generally comment too much on political issues but I have done, I will occasionally comment if somebody posts a picture of a pretty girl or tells me that they hate a film that I love for instance because I feel I’ve built up enough of a relationship with certain posters on here that I treat them as ‘virtual’ friends. I’ve always found this forum very helpful and clearly others have as well. I think it’s head and shoulders above many that I’ve looked at in the past and that the moderators and admin do a great job as a rule. I’ve never blocked anyone or been banned and although I’m sure my politics differ from several posters on here, I don’t have anybody that I don’t like enough to treat them with basic respect. When you don’t do that and you get into the name-calling and the abuse that most of us left behind as kids, this is where the problem arises. There is no answer to this in an online forum as some will always push the boundaries. I would bet that a Christian ladies charity cake baking society forum has to be moderated too. Maybe a potential ban could be more clearly flagged up, I don’t know I’ve never been in that position, but surely the basic answer is if you go off topic just keep it civil. It’s possible to do that without name-calling and certainly without abuse surely?
I was wondering when someone would take the time to read my post correctly. At NO TIME did I call anyone a W'ker and that's the fact of the matter. Steve R
I only asked where noobie and Marco had gone as I was missing them and Tel told me to do a search and locked the thread....... He’s a nasty man that Tel.....only joking Tel, honest..
Simple-Everyone did read it correctly Steve. It was pretty clear to most reasonable people. However it did not suit a single agenda so got twisted.
It was written in such a way that allows I'm calling you a ..... but not really, I think most can see that given no one else introduced that term or the need for it in a discussion asking for more information. That said, at 6 pages it now seems to have wondered off far from the original request for information on a members visibility for their own situation, is there a system to establish that information and highlighted certianly if a nuke earns a 30 day ban, why is it still an option for members to use. Anyway, I hope some information will be forthcoming from the backroom on the clarity, consistency and application of our own rules from both sides soon and for now it's probably best to close the thread and give the backroom time to look into that information and see what can be done.
