999 Running A Track Bike

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by cookster, Dec 17, 2015.

  1. £6K! would you could buy a track ready 1098 for that

  2. It should. Late model (05/06) 999s will have radial brakes and the fat black swing arm. That may be an 05-registered bike but it's not an 05/06 model.

Also a bit expensive in my book... £4.5-5k maybe depending on condition?

  3. I run a 999 track bike and I must admit, I love it. I've spent way too much money on it but I don't care. It makes me smile whenever I use it.
Only problem up to now is a knackered ecu.
Mines a 2002 with marzocchi forks, billet radial calipers, and a few other tasty bits.

  4. i tracked a 998s for 5years and currently have a 1098s for the past 12 months
they are exceptional bikes to ride, but on a 999 you will be well down on power. stock 999 is rwbhp is comparable with modern 600s (although the torque is still awesome so you can keep up in the twisty bits).

you will probably throw more money than is sensible at a ducati track bike, and you can expect to spend some quality paddock time with the fairings off scratching your head on occasion
i keep threatening to buy a gsxr but it hasn't happened (yet!)
