Got talking to a Brit pack packer who was staying in a Youth Hostel up in Darwin. He came in from the pub one night and there was a dirty great brown hairy spider (Huntsman possibly?) on the wall directly above his bed. He though feck that, I not getting into bed with that thing there so he went into the kitchen to find something to capture it with. A bit inebriated, the best thing he could come up with was a saucer. He clapped it over the spider and then thought, feck, now what am I going to do. And while he was thinking he noticed the spider was larger than the saucer and its legs were sticking out and he could feel it trying to push the saucer off. Aussie wildlife is a scream.
Great pics. Visited Glenelg on the rattly tram when we stayed in Adelaide. Really liked Adelaide - lots of pavement cafes and restaurants. Took the 24hr Ghan train from there to Alice Springs; that was a great experience. Enjoy yourself out there - very jealous!!!
wouldnt have been a huntsman.. they "only" get to about 50-70mm in diameter... we get those in NZ although they are predominantly only found in a suburb of auckland called avondale hence the kiwi name of avondale spider.. when i was in melbourne painting a multi level carpark , at some point i unknowingly sprayed one white.. was in the can one night when out of the corner of my eye i see part of the wall move! turn me head a lil and 50 cm from my face is a fuck off white spider looking for revenge!!! i was in the right place...
Murray River is good run around , yes a river, but it's got wineries, lots of them. Too many, I don't do......I just drink it. I'm not advertising wine. This is wine without a label.
