You haven't said what's wrong with the suspension. The forks on my SS were way too hard for my taste but dropping from 7.5 to 5 on the fork oil made all the difference.
The design team may not have, but that doesn’t stop the bean counters substituting cheaper, more basic components. Don’t forget the S2R was the entry level Monster so needed some price differential from the S2R1000 and S4R even though the bulk of the build was the same. The main economies were the suspension and the brakes.
I don't know to be honest, I just know it doesn't handle very well seems quite twitchy and not very planted in corners shakes it's head a bit too and makes my arms ache on a ride, guessing thats because i'm having to hold on to it to stop it shaking it's head. It used to be very unsettled on wet roads and white lines so much so that you felt you weren't in control of it (much better now it's been in the dealers, but it has affected my confidence with it)
How bizarre and how very un-Ducati-like. Ducati’s are known for feeling planted and secure. Are your tyre pressures as recommended? Do you have ancient, unsuitable tyres?? There must be something very wrong...
@Nantwich Flyer . Worth getting a suspension specialist to check the bike first, may save a lot of money and transform the handling. I also have an s2r1000 and it handles and rides excellently. Should only cost £50-£60 to have it checked over and adjusted to suit you. I would recommend where I took mine but you are nowhere near me and I'm sure there will be someone local to you who could do it.
I didn't think it was the entry level tbh, I thought it was more of a special edition, they still did something around the 600cc area and I thought the S2r 1000 was introduced later not at the same time
I will be getting it checked out, just not sure of the direction at the minute, had a quote from Maxton which works out about £800+vat for new internals and set up to my weight and type of riding which gives me compresion and rebound damping and also adjustable for preload, which is more than I wanted to pay tbh but not unachievable, but waiting on Kais for feedback to see what they can do for me
Some might say the spring on the Panegale is way too hard and that the damping in the Diavel forks is close to breaching trading standards. Not sure how to dovetail that into what your saying. TB
