Sat Nav's

  1. Have gone with a Quad Lock. What do you guys do when it rains? Bit of cling film? ;)

  2. They do rain covers but I haven’t bothered. Newer phones tend to be waterproof to the degree needed. Mine also sits in a sheltered position behind my screen.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. That’s definitely one advantage of a bike specific unit, it’s waterproof!!

    • Agree Agree x 2
  4. As is my phone :upyeah:

  5. Agree, but the bike specific navs are tougher and not quite as flimsy. I tried the phone way and am much happier having a Garmin on a proper mount on my bike. :upyeah:

  6. Tougher, no doubt. Would quite like a quad lock mount that incorporates wireless charging though.

  7. Oh yeah JH, a proper mount that charges my unit as well, thanks for reminding :D

  8. Yep, got me there. I do have to plug in my cable :sob:

  9. Chav!! :p:upyeah:

  10. So brilliant, apart from the tiny fact, it's broke your phone 3 times? Winner!!

  11. Little puzzled by the post myself. Surely the image stabiliser is only in use when the camera is, or it would be a massive battery drain. Trying to talk selfies whilst riding?

  12. Had 18 months with no issues with my Samsung, it’s my iPhone that has the problem - replaced under warranty no issue. I also use it for mountain biking in Wales so it’s been put through it’s paces.

Personally I think the dedicated units are no more durable, and they are huge. I’ve gone though a few TomTom’s and friends feedback on Garmins are no better.

  13. Horses for courses, I'll stick with dedicated as they are, what's the word??...................................... Oh yeah, dedicated!! o_O

  14. Camera was working, took out on my bike, next time I try the camera it’s completely distorted.

My guess was 157mph down the camera lens has caused the problem.

  15. They maybe dedicate but the software on them is crap compared to smart phone apps.

Waze is second to none for A to B navigation, and Scenic is a million times easier for route planning and downloading GPX files compared to Tyre To Travel.

    Hourses for courses though..

  16. Wow, you are my hero!! I wanna be just like you o_O:thinkingface:

  17. Yeah yeah, whatever dude,:D

  18. You questioned why it broke, that’s my answer...

Like the way you took that as a show off comment - this is a motorcycle forum right? I’ll teach you how to duck and pin the throttle if you want, it’s a special skill :D

Don’t worry, in a few years you’ll be wondering why you bothered with a dedicated unit, but I guess you alredy know that.

  19. Zzzzzzzz

  20. I’ll save constructive comments and advice for people who care :sob:
