  1. i'v mounted my Zumo 590 on the Navihalter, that's definitely the way to go.
did cut the cable to remove all the unnecessary connections and make it ducati compatible.

  2. Thanks to everyone for the feedback about installing the Garmin 390, correct power connections and cable routing. I'm glad to say everything came together nicely this afternoon and now all is installed and working how it should be.

    Cheers all!

  3. I did the same but got a load of errors on my Zumo 660 about USB connection problems. I did a better job of insulating all the unused cables in the loom and the errors have gone away. I was in a bit of a hurry when I first installed the Navihalter and cut down the loom - lesson learned (again) - take your time and do it right first time :)

  4. haha, steve.
indeed you need to ad some insulation to the unused cables :)
good lesson learned here: never rush into a job.

  5. Good point.

I've been doing more reading up, bit of a change about, I'm now thinking the garmin 590 may be the preferred weapon of choice !!

  6. FWIW, I'm getting reasonable results from cable-tying my Android phone to the Navihalter. That is, the phone's in an Otterbox case, and the Otterbox "holster" is tied to the Navi in landscape orientation. It's working pretty well so far.

I just resent the idea of paying for yet another device to juggle, when I already have a very capable general-purpose one with GPS built in.

Now I just need to work out whether the Tomtom app is that much better than the Navigator one, and whether they're likely to add the "curvy roads" feature to that app. Anybody else going this way, with more informed opinions about the apps on the market?

  7. Just bought a Zumo 390 from Halfords for £250 today.

  8. I managed to get a Zumo 590 from Halfords last week for £374.

  9. Can sum1 post pics of the 590 on the bike please?

I pulled ,y 590 off my tiger when I bought the multi but have been reluctant to install it as I thought it would be too big.

Just bit the bullet and ordered the navihalter though so looks like I'll be mounting something, whether it's the 590 or something else!

  10. Be interested to see the 590 once you have it mounted on the navihalter

  12. sorry, wrong link . its on the usa mst
Sorry previous reply was the wrong link. This link is from the USA site

  13. I use my iPhone in an identical position and run Copilot. When bike is your travel method, it picks twisty routes pretty well. You can also manually select road types when planning routes.

  14. I have been thinking about getting a Garmin 340 or 390 but at the moment
I have already fitted a navihalter and already have a iPhone 5,ultimateaddons case and just purchased a "4 Amp" plate to fit case to Navihalter. Also din to usb connector for power. I have navmii app for mapping and copilot, if the solution works well maybe get TomTom app.I would rather spend the money right now on a top case, new boots and jacket rather than sat nav so I hope it works OK.

  15. ;)

  16. Thanks; I've just installed CoPilot on my Android, and it looks promising so far.

  17. health warning on this , I have not yet received this but it looks like it will do the job, apparently the Amps 4 layout is an industry standard sizing and when I measured the Navihalter fitting it seems it will be OK. I should get it soon so I will post if its ok.

  19. The adapter is now fitted, however first you will need some washers ( i bought some rubber ones a 4 pack from B&Q) because when you fit the adapter with the supplied screws they protrude the mount and foul the phone case. rubber washers solve this and allow the screws to protrude just enough to friction lock the case as there is no latch on the adapter plate. The issue now is the the case has to remain on the mount. A bit of a pain but it shouldn't be a problem. Its not a great solution and I have not ridden the bike with it all fitted yet. What I want is a short dark coloured lightning to hella or USB waterproof cable, the one I had now says it not compatible and I assume is because I have been using it outside in the rain, it was fine until then :-(

I'm thinking for next year I'll get a garmin and be done with it.
