"Cupcake"... FFS ! It's a bun ! The creeping tide of Americanisms in common usage in the UK is ridiculous. It's not a movie, it's a film. It's not an elevator, it's a lift. I even heard someone call a mobile phone a "cell-phone" the other day - Arrrggghhhhh ! Speak English !
Getting back on topic and away from sugary comestibles. Amongst the multitude of all pervading Americanisms where I work the one I really hate is "reach out to" instead of plain old "ask".
