Does anyone have a view on the Goverment Sharp testing ? Some of the really top end helmets score 3 stars, notably most of the Schuberths and the Shoei GT Air, they seem to score poorly on side impacts. The Sharp report states that 50 motorcycle deaths a year could have been avoided if the rider was wearing a 5 Star rated helmet - food for thought
Good vid. Most of them are like that, from what I've seen, including mine. Try this (assuming right-handedness): put your thumb on your chin with your palm facing towards you, put your ring finger on the left (as you look out of the helmet) visor tab, put your index finger on the right visor tab, pull your fingers down at the same time. I've got so used to doing it that it's a non-issue.
Meant to say - last time I checked, the Schuberth C3 range was the only flip-front approved for UK track use despite not having a gold sticker.
I love my C3 and have the same issue. Easy fix, using one or two fingers, reach up to the top center of the visor. Pull down and it clicks into place very easily.
There is no problem with locking the visor, you don't have to do it with both hands! just use index finger and your thumb, place on visor and push down- done. Simple.
Had C3 pro C3 all plastics are nowhere near as good as Shoei Neotec for me far better IMHO the sun visor is great and its design is but into helmet optical is better too.
I'm not sure how the C3 wears but I've a 3yr old S2 and considering it was £400 it's become worn & saggy inside far quicker than any of the Shoei's I've had in the past. It was also billed as being super quite, is it fu*k, it'll be back to Shoei for me next time.
Since posting earlier, I've persevered and had a bit of an epiphany (after watching a short you tube video (). Seems I've been wearing the helmet in a position that places it too far forward - I followed the advice on the video and lo and behold, thing thing fits better, vision is better, its quieter and, most important of all, the flip front closes with one hand. I think this is because in the new position the ratchet strap is able to put more tension on the sides of the helmet and "pull" them together a couple of extra mm....which seems to make all the difference! Still not as easy to use as my much cheaper Grex/Nolan flipper (you just plonk it on and it works) but a massive step forward. Just earned itself a reprieve from ebay.
