Scott Redding In Bsb

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by duke63, Oct 6, 2019.

  1. I remember introduction of the Showdown concept, and thinking how unfair it was that the most consistent may not actually win the title. Buy boy, hasn’t it made it more years ago, last round, just really needing to finish and not doing...real racing excitement!

  2. It did seem that JR was as surprised as anyone else that the championship was won so early, his wife and family were not present which sort of corroborates that and he said as much when interviewed.

  3. I'm a right fan boy tbh, he was in a rush after winning R2 at knockhill to get to the airport and I saw him across the barrier and yelled for a phot, he turned round and jogged back "go on then mate".
Might have been the deep SW accent that persuaded him but he's alright in my book, alot of others would have just fucked off.

  8. He's dafter than that, he just wanted to do it :p
We need more characters like him - even if he sometimes try’s too hard to be obscure :bucktooth:

  9. That's what sponsorship unfortunately does for all sportsman and woman......sanitizes it.:(

  10. During the wet Silverstone GP he and Miller suggested they had 10 laps on scooters - would have been funny :joy:

  13. Watched the reruns last night and wow only 5 points between them at the final chequered flag after all those battles but what an amazing competition. Jonny Rea is the All Blacks of the WSB's at the minute and i'd like to see this happen but it's a tough act to follow.........but you never know in this game who's going to come out on top.

  14. All true, but I think Redding has the same absolute consistency that Rea seems to demonstrate, Bautista was fast but on the edge a lot this year because he had to ride the bike a lot on the front end, Scott looks to be a lot less particular and not so reliant on one or the other, but we will see.

A dark horse though is Alex Lowes, remember Shakey was at the top of his game on a well developed bike when Alex took it to him in BSB, he's a stop and fire rider who's had to learn how to use corner speed on the Yamaha but if he can ride the Kawasaki like Rea does then I think he will be competitive. Shame for Haslam because I think there's more to give, perhaps he can get on the pedercini bike and do well.

  15. Lowes has been a dark horse for 6 years...!

Loved how Redding chugged most of a bottle of champagne on the podium :upyeah:

  16. #Bautista had a golden opportunity in his rookie season to win the title with the all new V4,he was unknown in this format and had a great points buffer but cracked under pressure from Jonny.IMO,Good luck to any of the competitors that take it to jonny for 2020 as he has the avantage like M.Marcus,i.e bike he knows very well/all track knowledge for the racing calendar/many championships under his belt.

  17. I suspect Bautista having 3 crashes on the bounce, and what seem to be (for him) unexplained, knocked his confidence to the point of he could not push as he was. This game (as any elite sport) is 90% grey matter.

  18. What makes Scotts title even sweeter is he had a couple of DNFs through being punted off his bike and still had enough points and enough nouse to manage his performances and take the title, Brookes had a stonking weekend with three wins but a single dominant weekend doesn't make for championships .... I suspect he will always be the bridesmaid, thats his 2nd single digit championship defeat ..... onwards and upwards Scott :)
