I might be the exception there then ..... I clean and lube my chain with parafin and wurth dry chain lube after every daily ride (generally 250 miles) but also have fitted 1 of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144654634070?hash=item21ae168c56:g:xGAAAOSwv41i2gbg great when touring and easily get 20-25k miles from a chain, never had 1 snap yet
That's ok. It's just my opinion which I realize was coming down on this product rather bluntly. It's the gritty road grime that erodes the chain. Oiling in the absence of cleaning may help a bit to alleviate the friction but it's no substitute to keeping your chain clean. Oiling the chain without cleaning is akin to adding deodorant without taking a shower. But that's just my opinion also FWIW.
The oiler helps keep the chain clean as the oil is pretty lightweight. The xSystem electronic Scottoiler is easy to set up for a minimal flow that does the job. I had one on my KTM 1290 Super Adventure and it was great. The chain stayed smooth and lightly lubed and lasted ages. The bike didn't get cleaned often as I used it for work all year round and it took a pounding. Those bikes give the chain a hard life.
Anyone managed to hide the reservoir away from the engine? I’ve been looking at the underseat area. On my Monster 1200 I managed to get it squeezed under there.
Mines to the rear of the engine, under the seat and out of sight.did have to move a small electrical connector block forward to the bottom of the oil reservoir to fit in this position. It may get a little warm from the engine but would probably help the viscosity of the oil with delivery to the sprocket/chain. I made a small plate and mounted the clock/dispenser at the handle bar mounts. Hope this help
The xSystem has a different reservoir which may need a bit more space but I'll def have a look. No control panel or vacuum input to think about, just connect to the battery.
