Just been cleaning mine after yesterday's trip to the Staffs Classic Show and the slight rub I thought I had isn't even that, it cleaned off. It made me wonder if you guys with the rubs have the plastic cable clips touching the forks, as my cables clear by a good 5mm, but if I slide the clips along the cables, they touch the forks?
Thats what it was on my last bike, the clips that hold the abs cable to the brake hose. I repositioned them and then all was good.
Not noticed until I saw this thread, so checked mine, and feck me its nit a scratch its a gauge now!!
I stuck a patch of clear plastic vinyl where the cable sits close to the fork tube. Circa 50p for 2 square meters of the stuff. Its been on there for a year without issue. With the surplus I covered the front of the pannier painted panels where I usually drag my boot when mounting / dismounting.
I first read about this issue on the long term test bike on MCN, check mine and sure enough there was the scratch !!! Put some clear plastic vinyl on, sorted. Ducati should of sorted this by now on later models.
I'm currently waiting to see if I can get it sorted under warranty. But when I know I'll be putting some carbon patch over it either to cover the scratch or stop a scratch happening.
