Searching Out My First Ducati

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Ashley, Dec 22, 2015.

  1. Whatever you do do not buy any bike, apart from a Brough Superior, as an investment, and if you buy one of those then do not take that investment out on the road and risk losing it at the drop of a hat. An investment should be in a very safe place and no modern mass production bike will be an investment till many years after you and I are dead.
I bought my 848 because it is beautiful, has more power then I need and it is great to ride, bit I realise that a small diesel spill could wreck it in minutes.

  2. Welcome to the forum Ash, there's a load of us in Kent in the owners club. We meet the 4th Sunday every month at Mickeys diner on Bluebell hill, North of Maidstone. We normally have a ride out in the mornings before the meet, plus various trips abroad ;-) If you use Facebook, search for DOC GB Kent branch ;-)

  3. Thanks Nick
Funny you should mention the club
Had a wierd day yesterday, out road cycling with a mate and he had an off at about 35mph on a fast twisty downhill section resulting in broken collar bone and generally battered, and me colliding hard with his bike as it bounced off the bank and flipped up as his feet released from the pedals. Got lucky with a badly bruised and swollen arm from the impact with his bike but......
We got taken in by a very friendly farmer called Charles who just so happened to own a 916 and multistrada, i mentioned i was on the lookout for a Ducati and he mentioned the club and meet.

    Small word eh!!
Just got to find the right bike now and i'm still unsure what to do
My (not so) short list is currently
    749r
    999s
    848Evo
    1098s
Once i get a Ducati i'll be sure to pop along for a meet and greet

  4. Yeah I know Charles, and has more than just those two! He rode his 821 Monster around Morocco a few months back! If you get a bike sorted, come along for a laugh ;-)

Oh, and if it was me, I'd go 749R, then 1098S ;-)

  5. Ah thats right, sorry monster not multi, he did seem a little cagey when i quizzed him about the 916. Stranger sitting having a cuppa in his kitchen getting 20 questions about Ducati's, not suprising really.
    He has a collection eh?
My current top three is as you mentioned with the 999s in bronze position.
    May well change tomorrow mind...
