  2. But "protected no claims" only means that if you make a claim, the renewal will include your existing no-claims discount (50% or whatever) but it will apply to a possibly massively increased premium (because you made a claim!). Better than nothing, but you really don't want to make any claim at all if you can help it. (Sorry, just realised that Mary pointed this out).

I cannot recommend my XENA disc lock with built in motion sensing alarm. I know that disc locks are scorned, but in this case the audible alarm unit lured me; it became totally unstable once out of warranty, and not worth spending money on a new alarm unit so I now use it with no battery.

  3. I've had two Xena XN18 (18MM LOCKING PIN) Nightmare for over 10 years, probably longer. Work perfectly, in use every day.
Recently purchased a XX14 (14MM PIN) with cable adapter for crash helmet locking, perfect device.
You can buy replacement alarm modules, cases or just the rubber gaskets. Given than the XN18 was about £100 the alarm module for £25 SEEMS ABOUT RIGHT?

  4. It sounds as if those are in a different league from my pocket-sized Xena Xzz6 (6mm pin - to go through the holes in the disc). Maybe they downgraded everything to get the size and price so much smaller... so the answer may be if going for a XENA device, don't be a cheapskate like me!

  5. How you put a lock on makes a difference apparently, leaving a chain lying in the ground through your wheel makes it easier to get purchase with bolt cutters or take aim with a sledge hammer. Try to thread it through rearmost part of rear wheel and around fixed object. I thread a second chain through back wheel and nearside part of frame (this is at work so I don't have to cart chains about).

On a work visit to Scarborough I met a bloke who had a long U lock, it conveniently threaded through rear wheel hub, would make a chancer think twice for sure I reckon.

If you can cart a cover about with you they're meant to reduce chance of it getting nicked significantly. Can't see it to be tempted I guess.

  6. I must admit my purchases are over 10 years apart. The second, more recent purchase appears to have been cost engineered. The XN18 Nightmare appeared to be clearly much stronger, but more home made/ small production.
They don't even make an equivalent any more, may be because of the weight and cost.

  7. Smith and Wesson make a good immobiliser. Go for the 586 or 686 model.....

  8. Pentiums, or AMD's?

  9. Compound Bow in eye line of the garage is what I use... a warning sign and an arrow embedded in the garage door is a good deterrent...

  10. nissan parking only sign on the driveway

nobody with that taste would have anything worth stealing

  11. I'll vouch for that!

  12. If you are talking about home security ,as in your garage , heres a snapshot of the inside of my garage right now . Its colour if the door is open and infrared when dark . I can speak to anyone entering my garage from my phone which I get a text and an email from within 20 seconds or any movement. I get hundreds of emails if the door is opened, theres a recording sent to any device I want and more still pictures taken than you could believe and all for under £100 . Its called Foscam .

    Right now this is happening.

  13. Nice, but still not as effective as an arrow in the garage door ;)

  17. Or a lovely 38 or 357 however a rather nice 338 might focus the mind more....

  18. No wonder your fucked up if you sit in the garage all night . Get one of these and you could shoot from your ***** . second thoughts.
    wherever you are at.
