You're in B&Q after 10pm, so you cased it, had the audacity to ask where things were and went back at night
Sprocket's in complete control of the game. Looking at the stats, Sprocket has possesion of the splines at 85% plus. Eejit has had a couple of strong attacks - with Dremel support - but all leading to nowhere. The question on everyones lips is can Eejit regroup for one more side on attack to win? Or will Sprocket retain domination leading to Eejits retirement to the bike lounge? Sportfans, right now we are all rooting for Eejit to do the seemingly impossible and wrest control from Sprocket, but its just too close to call. Day TEN of the Test starts tomorrow, highlights only available here.
This is a great thread! I am going to go back now and read pages 2-11, cos I have skipped those... On a slightly more sensible note, if the countershaft seal gets fucked, surely it is a piece of pi$$ to replace? What I am getting at is, don't hold back on the heat just to save the oilseal. ...oh, but make sure it gets done before replacing the front sprocket.... Sorry, I shouldn't have said that!...
24hr shopping in the BIG metropolis mate Thanks Chris, I can’t get that to play but I can see an advert for Canestan, should I get some thrush cream from the chemists and smear that on my spline Feck, 10 days already. Unfortunately life keeps intervening and prevents me from attacking the fecking sprocket
Great commentary Unfortunately rain (aka work) will stop play this weekend. Tourist wise it’s one of the two busiest weekends of the year and I must do my duty. However, this will lull the sprocket into a false sense of security and complacency and when the game starts again I will make sure Eejit has greater control of the game
As I lay awake in the early hours of the morning again, with this bucking sprocket in my head, planning out my strategy for when I re-attack it after the weekend I came up with a brilliant idea . As there’s no suspension unit or tie rod on at the moment I have quite a bit of room to approach from the rear. I was thinking I can get the reticulating saw and cut through the gearbox output shaft and remove the front part on which the sprocket is stuck. I could then put that bit into the vice and I’d be able to get at the sprocket from all angles with the Dremel and my new cutting disks. Once the sprocket is off I can then simply weld the 2 parts of the drive shaft back together. Simples I need to learn how to weld anyway. That would work wouldn’t it?
